iOS 6 features remodeled iTunes, iBooks and App Stores

Apple didn't have time to go into each and every new addition in iOS 6 in great detail today, so a lot of cool stuff flew under the radar. New content stores, for instance, would fall into that category.

As previously rumored, the latest iOS update features completely remodeled iTunes, iBooks and App Stores. A change, that Apple says, will give users a "new kind of shopping experience..."

Tim Cook kicks off WWDC keynote with Apple stats

The moment that you've all been waiting for is finally here. Apple's big WWDC keynote has started, and the company's fearless CEO Tim Cook has taken the stage.

As usual, Cook's kicking things off by going over some of Apple's sales numbers and  other impressive accomplishments from the past couple of months...

Facebook officially launches App Center

Earlier today, we reported that screenshots of Facebook's App Center were starting to surface. This lead to speculation from folks that a release for the cross-platform, HTML5-encoded app store was on the horizon.

Well, as it turns out, they were right. During a press event this evening, the social networking giant announced that it would start rolling out App Center in the US today. And the rest of the world in the coming weeks...

Libon Voicefeed is like Google Voice for those who can’t use Google Voice

Google Voice is an exceptional tool, but the problem is that it just isn't available worldwide. If, like some of the iDB team, you happen to have the audacity to live outside the United States, then you are completely out of luck.

While Google promises that Google Voice is indeed on its way beyond American borders, there are alternatives out there that do the same thing, and if you're an iPhone owner, one of those alternatives is Libon Voicefeed from developer Orange Vallee.

A free download from the App Store and compatible with a wide range of mobile phone carriers across the world, Libon Voicefeed plugs the hole left by Google's reluctance, or inability, to bring Voice to the world. And it does a very good job of it, too...

Facebook App Center screenshot surfaces

About a month ago, Facebook announced that it was going to be launching a cross-platform app store encoded entirely in HTML5. Dubbed App Center, the store would contain both third-party titles, as well as Facebook's own creations.

The social network gave the store a tentative release date of "the coming weeks," but we have yet to hear anything else about it. Until today. A screenshot of App Center surfaced this morning, leading folks to believe that a release is near...

Foursquare gives its iOS app a major facelift

Foursquare users will notice that the social network has recently pushed out a significant update to its iOS app. Foursquare 5.0, as it's called, features a complete redesign, with a much cleaner-looking UI, and several navigation-related changes.

In an intelligent move, the location-based service has brought all of its most-used features to the forefront of its mobile app. I especially like how the Explore tab has been redesigned to make it easier to find nearby deals and areas of interests...

6 months later, OnLive app is still waiting for approval

In late 2011, OnLive announced that it would be bringing its over-the-air console gaming platform to iOS. It promised that users, wielding its dedicated controller, would have access to a library of tens of thousands of popular games on their iOS devices.

But as cool as it sounded, the magic soon wore off as the app's ETA went from "imminent" to "your guess is as good as ours." It's now been 6 months since the OnLive team submitted its iOS client to the App Store. And it's still awaiting Apple's approval...

Airfoil Speakers Touch back in the App Store

Last month, the folks of Rogue Amoeba made headlines when they announced that their app, Airfoil Speakers Touch, was removed from the App Store. Apple pulled the app, after more than a month of support, without giving the team much of an explanation.

Speculation flew about regarding the mysterious removal, eventually settling on the idea that maybe Apple was looking to implement a major feature from the title in its upcoming iOS 6 release. But, as Rogue Amoeba tells it, that wasn't the case at all...

Rumor: App Store, iTunes Store and iBookstore getting facelift and Facebook integration

Corroborating iDB's scoop that all Apple's apps which ship with iOS software are about to get a major overhaul in iOS 6, the latest chatter in the rumor mill now has it that Apple at WWDC is launching redesigned front-ends for the App Store, iTunes Store and iBookstore.

As for the new look, you can probably expect the App Store, iTunes Store and iBookstore apps to adopt that sexier silver appearance.

But wait, there's more to this redesign than meets the eye...

App Store launches Free App of the Week and Editors’ Choice promos

Not to be outdone by indie devs' massive game sale, Apple has launched a pair of prominently advertised promotions on both the App Store and the Mac App Store, in time for your extended Memorial Day weekend. The new Editors' Choice section offers great apps for both iOS and Mac platforms cherry-picked by Apple's iTunes team.

Also, Cupertino (finally) pulled an Amazon with the other section, giving away one free app every week, starting today...
