Over the weekend, legendary analyst Ming-Chi Kuo put forth a new research note that aimed to shed some light on upcoming iPhone features. Apple seeds sixth beta of macOS 12 Monterey to developers

macOS Monterey beta

The march towards a public release of macOS 12 Monterey continues. And, of course, the wide release of the other major software updates. And to get there, we must stay on the beta seed train.

Today, Apple has seeded the sixth beta of macOS 12 Monterey to developers. While this is obviously late in the beta process, it's still worth saying that downloading and installing the prerelease software still shouldn't be done on your primary computer. It's possible the software is still a little rough around the edges as Apple continues to tweak the formula ahead of a public launch later this year. What's more, this is the developer beta, so it's meant for registered developers.

Instagram will now require users share their date of birth to use the service

In an effort to make its platform a generally safer place for its younger users, the Facebook-owned Instagram has confirmed a relatively big change for the service moving forward. The social network has confirmed that it will require a bit of information for its users if they want to continue to use the service.

Today, Instagram confirmed that, moving forward, users will need to provide their date of birth if they want to keep using the photo- and video-sharing platform. The company is now asking users for the information if they haven't already shared it. The company says the change will "create safer, more private experiences for young people."

iPhone 13 may support satellite calls (provided Apple doesn’t disable this in software)

According to a revered Apple analyst, the next iPhone tentatively named “iPhone 13” will include a new chip allowing it to support satellite communications. It's unclear, however, if the next iPhone will let you make satellite calls via services like StarLink. For all it's worth, Apple could be simply future-proofing iPhone 13 until software support for satellite calling is in place.

Apple acquires Primephonic, a classical music streaming service

Apple is known to acquire companies from time to time, and sometimes some of those acquisitions are big enough to warrant a press release from Apple itself. Today marks one of those days. The company has sent out a press release officially announcing that it has acquired a new music streaming service, which will only bolster the catalog of Apple Music itself.
