Bumping the version number to 5.6, the new Viber for iOS lets you express yourself in a more detailed manner than before with support for 7,000 characters long text messages.

In addition, you can now like messages in group chats, forward the contents of public chats and take advantage of better video messaging features that improve your experience.

Is iPhone 6s waterproof? iFixit has the answer

So, is the new iPhone 6s waterproof or not? A lot of ink has been spilt following a video that showed an iPhone 6s surviving being submerged in bowls of water for over an hour. People have been wondering whether the poster had used Liquipel to protect their device from water damage or if Apple has in fact done something to improve water resistance of the new iPhones.

iFixit was wondering the same so they set out to put this debate to rest once and for all. So then, is the new iPhone waterproof or not? Read on to find out.

Apple Music, iTunes Movies and iBooks make their long-expected debut in China

Apple on Wednesday announced that users in China can now enjoy Apple Music, as well as browse and download their entertainment from the iTunes Store and iBooks Store, marking the first time customers in the 1.33 billion people market will have access to Apple’s entertainment ecosystem with music, movies and books right at their fingertips.

“Customers in China love the App Store and have made it our largest market in the world for app downloads,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “One of the top requests has been more great content and we’re thrilled to bring music, movies and books to China, curated by a local team of experts.”

Spyder PowerShadow case gives your iPhone 6 a boost of energy

There is nothing worse than spending the day out with the family, only to realize as the evening approaches that your iPhone 6s is running out of juice. You could risk getting a time-lapse of the sunset, but that might mean you won't be able to get directions back to the hotel. What will you do?

With Spyder's PowerShadow case, you won't have to choose one or the other. The ultra slim case gives you 120 percent of your iPhone 6s' battery life back while protecting from drops.

Enabling Low Power Mode on the iPhone 6s cuts performance to iPhone 5s levels

Low Power Mode allows iPhone users running iOS 9 to eke out more battery life when the battery is getting low. It doesn't just pull this ability out of thin air, it causes iOS to turn off certain features like mail fetch, background app refresh, automatic downloads, etc.

What's more, Low Power Mode significantly reduces the clock speed of your iOS device. We've seen before and after benchmarks with older iPhones involving Low Power Mode, but what about Apple's just-released iPhone 6s? How much of an impact does Low Power Mode have on it?

How well do glass screen protectors work with 3D Touch?

Among the first question that popped up once 3D Touch was officially revealed was this: how well will 3D Touch work with screen protectors on the iPhone 6s? Fortunately, the answer to that question came around fairly quickly, but there's nothing like trying it out for yourself.

The folks at Spigen sent over a few new accessories, and over the last few days, I've been putting its GLAS.tR SLIM tempered glass screen protector to the test. In the following video, I'll show you the results of my testing.

Google Maps finds its way to your Apple Watch

The Google Maps app received an update today that includes a handful of new features, the most noteworthy of them being support for Apple Watch.

Upon launching the app on your Apple Watch, you will be presented two buttons: one for directions to your home, another for directions to your work, two locations that can easily be set up from within Google Maps on iPhone. A list of recent routes is also displayed on the screen to quickly browse and access your latest requested directions.

How to turn a Live Photo into a still photo

Live Photos was one of the main features introduced with iOS 9 and iPhone 6s. Some might see it as a gimmicky feature, others like me might see it as a great way to inject a little more life into photos.

The process of taking a Live Photo is pretty simple. It's on by default, and you have nothing to do. Simply shoot a photo like you would normally do, and you're done. Your device will capture an extra 1.5 second of video before and after the photo was taken, stitching it together and turning a frozen moment into a lively one.

But what if you want to turn a Live Photo into a still one? As with most things iOS, it's actually pretty simple.

Chromecast support, people labeling and shared albums coming to Google Photos

In addition to a pair of new Nexus smartphones and an upcoming $14.99 Google Play Music family tier, the search giant dedicated a few minutes of stage time at its media even this morning to the mobile Photos app, which launched on iOS and Android in May 2015.

An upcoming update to Google Photos, the company said, will add a few missing features to the software, like people labelling, Chromecasting, album collaboration and more.

Google Play Music to offer new $14.99 family plan later this year

Ahead of Apple Music launch tomorrow following its three-month trial period, Google at today's event announced that its own subscription-music service, called Google Play Music, will offer a new family plan later this year.

Like Apple Music, Google's service costs $9.99 per month. As you know, Apple Music also offers a $14.99 per month subscription for families up to six. While Google has yet to reveal a precise timeframe for upcoming family tiers, it did confirm the pricing.
