While Apple occasionally slaps a fresh coat of paint on your Home screen’s app icons, the grid-centric Home screen functionality has remained mostly unchanged since the very first iteration of iOS. That said, it should come as no surprise to anyone that changing the layout of the Home screen is one of the most popular things to do with a jailbroken iPhone or iPad.
If you’re one to tinker with the Home screen’s layout, and you’ve recently jailbroken iOS 12 with Chimera or unc0ver, then you might take a liking to a newly-released jailbreak tweak called Iconator2 (iOS 12) by iOS developer Soh Satoh.
The iPhones coming down the pike next year could use 120 Hz screens, doubling the refresh rate and resulting in smoother scrolling, faster action in games and other benefits.
If you’ve been paying attention to the slew of jailbreak tool updates in the last couple of weeks, then Jake James’ Sock Port exploit has undoubtedly caught your attention. Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver jailbreak tool for iOS 11.0-12.2 was the first to implement it, but it could only jailbreak A9-A11 devices running iOS 11.0-12.1.4 at the time.
Just this morning, James shared an exciting announcement on Twitter regarding the Sock Port exploit, and as it would appear, oodles of modifications and refinements throughout the past week have made it compatible with all devices running iOS 11.0-12.2, including the A12(X) variety:
July 20, 2019 marked the 50th anniversary of the moon landing by the Apollo 11 mission, making Neil Armstrong the first man to walk on the moon. So many years later, it is hard to imagine a mission of this type was possible in 1969, on a space craft with less computing power than an Apple Watch. Today's Wallpapers of the Week are inspired by the mission, with several moon wallpapers.
It’s been a busy week for the jailbreak community as Chimera and unc0ver have each picked up support for @NedWilliamson’s new Sock Puppet exploit, permitting those with up to iOS 12.3 beta installed to jailbreak their handsets. That said, those folks must be itching for ideas as to what to install on their newly-pwned handsets. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered.
This roundup encompasses all the latest jailbreak tweak releases from Monday, July 15th to Sunday, July 21st. As always, we’ll kick things off by discussing our favorite releases first and then wrap things up by outlining the rest afterward.
This edition of our Apps of the Week roundup includes an app for learning more about finance, chat rooms for fans of TV shows and movies, and a price-tracking list-maker. And as always, we've selected two great new games for you to check out.
The iPhone’s locking and unlocking sounds have received minor revisions over the years, but perhaps not as many as we’d like. Fortunately, those with jailbroken handsets can get around this quandary by setting custom locking and unlocking sounds without Apple’s approval.
A newly-released jailbreak tweak called SoundLock by iOS developer DevelopApple is now available for free in the BigBoss repository, and it lets you configure custom sounds for a variety of locking and unlocking-centric actions that you might perform daily on your pwned iPhone or iPad.
Hot off the heels of the release of unc0ver v3.3.6, Pwn20wnd just released another update for unc0ver this evening, this time bringing the jailbreak tool up to version 3.3.7.
Pwn20wnd announced unc0ver v3.3.7 via Twitter just a few minutes ago, noting that it would make the Sock Port exploit a lot more reliable on 4K devices:
Pwn20wnd released unc0ver versions 3.3.4 and 3.3.5 just this morning with support for Jake James’ Sock Port exploit, which can be used to jailbreak A7-A9(X) devices running iOS 11.0-12.1.4. But as it would seem, these releases weren’t bug-free, prompting Pwn20wnd to update unc0ver once again this afternoon to version 3.3.6.
Pwn20wnd announced the release of unc0ver v3.3.6 via Twitter not long ago, noting that it would resolve issues with the Sock Port exploit failing to jailbreak specific 4K devices:
