I don’t know anybody that still uses a physical alarm clock. Most people I know are using the alarm feature built right into their smartphone because it’s both free and convenient. Sadly, iOS’ alarm functionality leaves a lot to be desired in many areas, and that’s one reason why there are so many jailbreak tweaks in the wild that offer improvements for iOS’ alarm department.

Adding to that list, a newly released jailbreak tweak dubbed Aurore by iOS developer Micheal Wu (zhenguwu) tries to supercharge the iOS alarm experience with a bevy of new features and options. But is it worth it? That’s what we intend to show you in this piece.

Cydia Substrate updated to v0.9.7103 with additional bug fixes

Following a Cydia Substrate update on Wednesday that improved hooking and added preliminary support for iOS 14, the package received a second update early Thursday morning, this time bringing it up to version 0.9.7103.

Cydia Substrate is used for tweak injection on both the checkra1n and unc0ver jailbreaks, albeit only up to A11 devices for the latter as Cydia Substrate doesn’t support A12 or newer handsets. If you’re using a supported platform, then this update is available from Sam Bingner’s default repository and should appear after refreshing your sources.

If you like personalizing the aesthetics of your jailbroken handset, as most jailbreakers do, then we’d strongly recommend taking a few moments out of your busy day to check out a newly released jailbreak tweak called Velvet by iOS developers NoisyFlake and HiMyNameisUbik.

Velvet imbues jailbreakers with the freedom of customizing and theming their handset’s floating notification banners, Lock Screen notification banners, and Now Playing media player with just about any appearance they can imagine. A few examples of the tweak at work are depicted in the screenshots embedded above and below.

Cydia Substrate updated to v0.9.7102 with improved hooking & more

Depending on the type of jailbreak you’re using, your handset might depend on Cydia Substrate for tweak injection. This will be the case if you’re using checkra1n, but it may also apply to unc0ver users who aren’t using A12 or newer handsets since Cydia Substrate was never updated to support Apple’s latest lineup because of unforeseen complexity challenges.

If your jailbroken handset does use Cydia Substate for tweak injection, then you may want to launch Cydia and refresh your sources. An updated version of Cydia Substrate was released on Wednesday with improvements, officially bringing the package up to version 0.9.7102.

Unc0ver jailbreak updated to v5.2.1 with bug fixes & improvements

Hot off the heels of a heated DMCA battle between the Electra Team and the unc0ver Team Tuesday evening, the unc0ver jailbreak has received its first update in nearly a month, officially bringing the jailbreak tool up to version 5.2.1.

The update was announced via the unc0ver Team’s official Twitter account early Wednesday morning, and from what we can gather, it mostly appears to be a bug fix update.

Odyssey jailbreak GitHub slapped with DMCA claim ahead of release

Jailbreakers who’ve been paying close attention to Twitter and /r/jailbreak over the past couple of days likely witnessed the creation of the official Odyssey Twitter account and a plethora of teasers showcasing the Electra Team’s upcoming iOS 13-centric jailbreak tool in action. As it would seem, however, the energized release is a far cry from being a drama-free one.

Odyssey jailbreak co-developer Hayden Seay, also known by many in this community as Diatrus, took to Twitter Tuesday evening to share that unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd had filed a DMCA takedown request targeting the Electra Team’s upcoming Odyssey jailbreak.

Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13 nears release as official Twitter account comes to life

It was only a couple of weeks ago that CoolStar began teasing the imminent release of the upcoming Odyssey jailbreak for iOS 13 (previously referred to as Chimera13). The jailbreak still hasn’t been released at the time of this writing, but things appear to be falling into place rather quickly, and it’s attracting a lot of attention.

A brand-new Twitter account was created for the Odyssey jailbreak Monday afternoon, and that very same account began Tweeting a bevy of useful information regarding the devices that Odyssey would support out of the box and the features that the jailbreak would provide for its users.

Putting your iPhone to sleep when you’re finished using it is one of the most important things you can do to conserve battery life, and yet I always witness folks around me forgetting to take this simple step before placing their unlocked handset down somewhere. Perhaps they just need a little help remembering to put their iPhone to sleep, or maybe they need a jailbreak tweak that can do it for them?

Enter Kleidaria, a newly released and free add-on iOS developer gilshahar7 that automatically puts your iPhone to sleep after you place it face-down on a flat surface, such as a tabletop.

I have a hard time trusting apps with my privacy as it is, but my worries run deeper when they’re realized by app makers that seemingly have zero interest in conserving user privacy, but rather harvesting user data for the sake of profit or surveillance.

Examples that struck irritating chords with me included learning that popular apps like LinkedIn and TikTok snooped on users’ clipboards without their permission. Apple’s upcoming iOS 14 update makes users more aware of app-centric clipboard access, but if you don’t plan to update because you’re jailbroken, then you can use a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called NoClipboardForYou by iOS developer shiftcmdk instead.
