Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge costs more to build than iPhone 6

Samsung is taking another hit in the battle for profit and market share, with a bill of materials for the new Galaxy S6 Edge pegged at about $290 for the 64GB version, as reported by Recode. For comparison, the more expensive iPhone 6 Plus money can buy only costs Apple $263 to build. Of course, this doesn't take into account cost of R&D, marketing, etc, but it still paints a dark picture for Samsung who's had a few rough quarters due to its mobile division bleeding profits. Spending more to build a device that will be sold for less doesn't seem like the best idea either.

Yet another interesting week in Cydia with a steady flow of new tweaks offering various levels of enhancements to your jailbroken iPhone. First impressions: going hands-on with Apple Watch

Apple opened up pre-orders for Apple Watch earlier this morning, and although these won't ship until April 24, the company has outfitted its store with hands on areas where you can try on Apple Watch, and get to have a feel for what it's like to hold the future on your wrist.

After making an appointment at my local Apple Store, I was able to try two different models, and play with one of the Apple Watches that were available for everybody to play with. These are my first impressions of Apple Watch after going hands on with a Stainless Steel with Leather Loop band, and a Space Gray aluminum with white sport band, as well as the various working units they had on display.

Apple reminds developers of upcoming 64-bit requirement for app updates

As a reminder to developer, Apple published on its developer portal today that starting June 1, 2015, all app updates submitted to the App Store will have to include 64-bit support and be built with the iOS 8 SDK. While the move probably won't affect active developers who are already in compliance, smaller developer who haven't updated their apps for iOS 8 or 64-bit devices yet will have some catching up to do, and it's only good for us users.

17 new jailbreak tweaks to check out today

Another slow week in the jailbreak community, but an interesting one nonetheless. These past few days have seen the release of seventeen jailbreak tweaks, including some very solid ones, such as OneHandWizard. As always, we list all the new releases here so you don't have to scroll through Cydia to find the latest tweaks.

Reclaiming moments with Apple Watch

In his secret history of the Apple Watch story, David Pierce concludes that the device might be able to help us reclaim small moments of our lives, something I've tried to explain several times in my posts about the best Apple Watch features Apple hasn’t told you about, and a day in the life of an Apple Watch user.

The tweaks of the week

Another slow week in terms of releases in Cydia with these 14 new packages to hit the default repos. Still, quality is more important than quantity. This is more true today with some of these tweaks providing great features. Have a look!
