The limits of Android Wear compatibility with iOS

If you can’t beat them, join them. This could be the motto for Google, which is rumored to bring iOS compatibility to Android Wear. And if strings of code that were recently discovered are any indication, it seems the rumor actually holds a lot of truth to it.

Considering this probable move, there seems to be a lot of excitement about the potential possibilities, especially among people who don’t believe in Apple Watch, or want the convenience of a smartwatch without all the strings attached to the Apple ecosystem.

One thing people don’t seem to realize is that even with full iOS support, Android Wear will never be more than a shiny screen with a handful of limited features.

If you have $10,000+ to spend, Apple will give you a 30-minute hands on with Apple Watch Edition

Those who have a minimum of $10,000 to spend on Apple Watch Edition are in luck, as Apple will offer them 30 minutes to check out the device in select stores, according to IBT, which talked to Apple Store employees in two separate New York locations.

Standard appointments can be scheduled beginning April 10, and will last for 15 minutes, which should give enough times to figure out what specific model or band to choose. People interested in spending big will have double that time to make their decision.

A day in the life of an Apple Watch user

5.15am: The alarm goes off on my iPhone. I make sure to turn it off quickly so I don’t wake up my wife. After a night of charging, I put my Apple Watch on. I wish I could just use it to wake me up, but it needs to be plugged in at night, at least for a couple hours. I'm hoping next year's model will have better battery life.

The purpose of Apple Watch is something that has been greatly discussed ever since the company first unveiled it last September, and as the release date nears, it seems to be the topic of even more arguments.

Admittedly, Apple isn’t doing a great job at highlighting the true selling points of Apple Watch. If you go to the Watch mini site on Apple.com, the first thing Apple tells you about it is that it is an incredibly precise timepiece. I don’t know about you, but I don’t recall ever wondering if the time I was looking at (be it on my iPhone, my Mac, or my microwave clock) was indeed precise, and I imagine most people feel the same.

To me, there are three features Apple should have made essential parts of its marketing materials. The company either didn’t feel the need to because they aren’t actual features per se, or maybe Apple didn’t realize their importance, something that can only be measured as you use the device day in day out for an extended period of time.

I will not pretend I know better than Apple when it comes to communicating. That’s clearly not the case, but as someone who’s been using a Pebble every day for over a year, I believe I have a very good sense of what makes a smartwatch so indispensable.

TaiG organizes jailbreak convention in China, with prominent hackers set to attend

Chinese company/team of hackers TaiG is organizing Mobile Security Summit, a jailbreak convention scheduled for March 27, in Beijing, China, with several prominent figures of the jailbreak community already set to attend the event.

The announcement of this event hasn't been publicized quite yet on this side of the world, but it seems the TaiG team aims at bringing its own version of JailbreakCon to mainland China. The schedule seems quite tight since it's only two weeks away from now, but that hasn't stopped famous hackers such as comex, P0sixninja, Pimskeks, and Chronic from committing to present at the event.

There were very few surprises at the event Apple held yesterday to officially launch Apple Watch. Thanks to accurate leaks and rumors from the past several weeks, we were confident Apple was going to unveil a new notebook, which we all called the 12-inch MacBook Air until then. If the actual product announced wasn’t much of a surprise, its name turned out to be what really took me off guard, because I expected a new MacBook Air, not a new MacBook.

It’s all semantics, you might think, but we all know nothing is just semantics with Apple. Everything the company does, every product denomination has a clear purpose. So, the new MacBook.

Apple confirms Apple Watch is splash and water resistant, not waterproof

If there was any hope at this point that Apple Watch was waterproof, then it's all been shattered by the small prints at the bottom of Apple Watch dedicated pages on the company's website. With a water resistance rating of IPX7, the small prints make clear that Apple Watch is splash and water resistant, but not waterproof.
