On top of new bands, Apple announced two new anodized aluminum cases for the entry level Apple Watch yesterday: Gold, and Rose Gold. Armed with my best camera (that would be my iPhone 6), I visited my local Apple Store to see for myself what the new Apple Watch Sport cases look like. I must say I was a bit skeptical about how these finishes would look like on the aluminum version of the device, but after going hands on, I must say I am impressed.

13 tweaks to check out this weekend

We're just days away from Apple unveiling new iOS devices and likely providing an official launch date for iOS 9. With new software come new challenges, and of course the continuation of the cat and mouse game. If rumors hold true, a jailbreak for iOS 9 might never happen. We shall see, I guess. In the meantime, let's enjoy what we have now.

Tweaks of the week: FutureLock, MusicScroller, SimpleReach, and more

Another interesting week for the jailbreak community. Despite the reports of thousands of iCloud account being compromised by some shady jailbreak tweaks installed from some shady repos you've probably never heard of, we've seen some good tweaks being released in Cydia.

In case you don't want to scroll through dozens and dozens of packages, we round up all the new jailbreak tweaks that appeared this week on Cydia.

How to post photos and videos in landscape or portrait mode on Instagram

Earlier today, Instagram announced a big change to the way your feed will look like soon by finally allowing users to upload content in landscape or portrait orientation. Up until now, only square images or videos could be uploaded, although there were apps offering a workaround for that, making Instagram a very standardized experience for most.

Now that the company has updated the app to allow for different orientations, we are going to show you how to publish photos or videos in landscape or portrait mode on Instagram.

Is Apple Watch the next frontier for ads?

I just finished tracking a run using the free version of Map My Run, and after saving that workout directly from my Apple Watch, I was presented with the above screen. Granted, I use the free ad-supported version of the Map My Run app, and while I do expect to see ads on the iPhone app, it was kind of surprising to see an ad right there on my wrist.

Instagram now lets you share photos and videos in portrait or landscape mode

Instagram announced today that users are now able to upload photos and videos in either portrait or landscape mode, on top of the current square format that has became a marquee feature of the app. Available via the Instagram app update version 7.5 on iOS, this new capability will certainly be welcome by many users, as Instagram notes in a blog post that nearly 1 in 5 photos or videos posted on the service aren't in square format.

Crisp: a clean and simple email template keyboard for iOS

How many times a day or a week do you send the exact same email to people? It usually is a canned reply to an often asked question, or maybe it is a tidbit of personal information such as your address. If you use email, chances are you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Crisp, a new app available in the App Store today, wants to make this better by offering a clean and simple email template keyboard for iOS.

17 tweaks to check out this weekend

As I am preparing this roundup of new jailbreak apps and tweaks, I realize that what I'm actually doing is taking the pulse of the jailbreak community. Some weeks it's slow. Some weeks it beats fast. This roundup is very much a way to not only see what's new, but also how healthy the community is. Right now it's doing pretty good!
