GreenPois0n Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 Coming Soon?

According to a recent tweet from P0sixNinja, the iPhone hacker behind GreenPois0n, an updated version of the jailbreak will be released as soon as he finishes adding the new sandbox patches.

There are good reasons to think that this jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 will be a tethered jailbreak, thus requiring you to plug your iPhone in and boot it with GreenPois0n every time you shut down your iPhone...

10 Predictions for the iPhone in 2011

January 1st. It's that time of the year when I make my predictions for the iPhone for the year to come. We all know we're going to get a new iPhone sometimes around June/July, but what will this iPhone be like?

What new features will it sport? Is Apple going to surprise us again this year, or, just like they did with the iPhone 3GS, will they just come up with a slightly improved version of the iPhone 3G?

I believe 2011 will be the year of the iOS. I believe that for the first time this year, Apple will open up iOS to allow wild things we've always dreamed of but only the jailbreak community would provide us...

Reality Check: How Wrong/Right Was I About my 2010 Predictions for the iPhone

On January 2nd, 2010, I wrote a post titled 10 predictions for the iPhone in 2010. Just like the title of the post suggested, I shared with you some of my predictions for the iPhone in this year that is about to end.

Looking back at what I predicted then, I'm glad to see that I was right on 90% of my predictions. In this post, I will go over each point and explain you how much I was wrong, or right in most cases...

Dev Team Releases RedSn0w 0.9.7b4 Untethered Jailbreak

The Dev Team just released RedSn0w 0.9.7b4, the latest version of their untethered jailbreak, which let me remind you, is still in beta. This updated version of RedSn0w brings the untethered jailbreak to your iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G for those of you on iOS 4.2.1.

The major improvement in this update is that you no longer need to run usbmux, which was very confusing for many of you (oh yeah, me included)...

Will Verizon Be Apple’s Valentine?

You gotta love all these Verizon iPhone rumors as it seems that every week, there is a new one being spread. The latest to date is a lovely rumor spread by Business Week, who got word from a "person familiar with Apple's plans who is not authorized to discuss them publicly" that Apple will be holding a special event on Valentine's Day to announce the new partnership with Verizon.

It seems we've heard that before, no? Oh yeah right, we've heard that about a zillion times and it never actually happened...

Skype Now Lets You Do Video Calls on Your iPhone

We've been talking about it for about a week now, and to be honest, we expected it to launch at CES in a few days, but the Skype application for iPhone got an update today and finally lets you do video calls over wifi or 3G to another iPhone or to a Skype desktop user.

This update is long overdue. Since the iPhone 4 launched in June, introducing FaceTime, we've all been waiting for Skype to catch up and update their application to allow video calls. FaceTime is great, but not everyone owns an iPhone 4, thus it makes it hard to have a video call with someone who's not an iPhone 4 user...

The iPhone 4 Antenna and Ping Make CNN’s List of Biggest 2010 Tech Fails

CNN just published a list of the 10 biggest tech fails of 2010. At the top of the list, somewhat of a surprise, is the iPhone 4 antenna, also known as the antennagate, which we widely covered a few months ago.

I guess the fail in this case is not the antenna problem itself, but rather the way Apple handled the whole situation by pretty much saying there was no issue, then saying there was an issue that would be fixed with a software update, then saying there was actually no issue, but since there was no issue, they were going to give free cases to everyone. Confused?

RedSn0w 0.9.7b3 Untethered Jailbreak is Out, Fixes Even More Bugs

It looks like the Dev Team is working day and night on the RedSn0w untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1. They first released the tool on Sunday but it came with a few major issues. They quickly released a second beta version last night and now they are shipping a third version that supposedly fixes even more bugs.

RedSn0w 0.9.7b3 should fix problems with FaceTime, WinterBoard, and embedded videos in iTunes...

StickWars 2 iPhone Game Review

StickWars 2 created by Pinger, is the sequel to the popular Stick Wars game. I was impressed by the first game so I thought I would check out the sequel. If you are unfamiliar with Stick Wars, it was a popular castle defense game in which you must protect your castle against a never-ending army of stickmen. For those who used to spend your days as kids drawing stick men or playing Hangman then this will especially touch your heart.

The concept is pretty straightforward. In this game you must protect your precious castle against hordes of angry stickmen bent on your destruction. The stickmen will be charging at you with different speeds from the right and you will be mainly using your finger as your main form of protection...

RedSn0w Untethered Jailbreak Updated [Fixes Native Apps Crashes]

Earlier today, the Dev Team released the beta version of their RedSn0w untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 (see our tutorial here). Like we reported, this untethered jailbreak comes with its fair share of issues, one of the most annoying being that some of the native apps would just crash.

While there are still a bunch of bugs to be worked out, the Dev Team updated RedSn0w to version 0.9.7b2, which fixes this issue where native apps like the app switcher or the iPod app would crash...
