Apps of the week: PlunderNauts, Grub, Fuse, and more

This may not have been the best week for new apps and games, but the good ones that did come out really brought back some memories for me. Sometimes I forget that life goes on.

This week, we’ve got a list of apps and games that we think you’ll find interesting. Maybe some of them will even spark your memory and we can share a moment of nostalgia together. Check out our list of Apps of the Week below…

Godfire review: this game is about as console quality as it gets on iOS

These days, game developers are trying harder than ever to push the boundaries of what is possible with mobile gaming. No, we still aren’t there yet, but every day brings us closer to console quality gaming in the palm of our hands.

Godfire: Rise of Prometheus is one of those games that maxes out the iPhone and iPad’s abilities by offering a graphically complex game with fast action gameplay in a fairly large world. Read our game review of Godfire below…

Reverser app makes some pretty creepy yet funny video effects

So, there may not normally be any reason why a person would want to reverse a video (audio included) other than to goof off. However, goofing off is my favorite pastime, so turning something so simple as a cat video into a hilariously bizarre short art piece is something I can’t resist.

Reverser: Backwards Slo-Mo is a video-editing app that turns your clips inside out and upside down. Well, at least it reverses the video and audio for some fairly interesting effects…

Perfect Paths review: finding the right path is harder than you’d think

I am a big fan of minimalist puzzle games, as you may have noticed by the number of reviews I’ve done for iDB. As much as I love them, I’m also not particularly good at them. It always takes me a while to get the hang of the rules and I will oftentimes get stumped on a level with no idea what to do next.

Perfect Paths is one of those games that stumped me pretty fast. The first dozen or so levels are fairly easy, but once the controls get more complex, so do the solutions. I like getting stuck, though. It always makes me feel more triumphant when I solve a puzzle. Check out my game review of Perfect Paths…

iON Bond review: bringing particles together at last in this great puzzle game

Science. What a fun subject. You learn about the elements, sound waves, viruses, and all kinds of amazing stuff that exists in our universe. However, when I was in school, I don’t think anyone would have claimed that the subject was fun, exactly. Too bad there weren’t more cool video games to play that would help me identify with what I was learning.

iON Bond isn’t particularly educational, but it does take the basic concept of particle collision and turns it into a fun puzzle game. Check out our game review of iON Bond and see if it is something you’d like to play…

Blow your enemy away with QuadBlast

Normally, I pass on games that require you to tilt your device in order to play the game. There are a few exceptions where a game is so good that I put aside my dislike of tilt controls.

Quadblast is one of those tilting games that stand out from the rest because of the action-packed arcade style that pushes the limits of your reaction skills while offering hours of entertainment. Looking silly in public is totally worth it…

Spendbook is an elegant and useful personal finance tracker

We’ve reviewed a number of personal finance apps in recent months, especially since the launch of iOS 7. One complaint I’ve heard is that many of the new app designs look too cartoonish or childlike.

Spendbook – Personal Finance Tracker is a comprehensive budgeting app that doesn’t look like a candy shop. Instead of a white background with pastel colors, you’ll be tracking your spending with a dark themed app that won’t make you feel like you are looking at a coloring book…

Apps of the Week: Broken Age, These Lumps, Unread for iPad, and more

This has been a great week for new and updated apps and games. We’ve seen major changes to Skype, the Amazon Prime Music streaming service, and new titles from some popular game developers. You’re going to be busy this weekend. Looks like that HoneyDo list is going back on the fridge.

This week’s list of apps and games are sure to occupy your brain and your fingertips. Call in sick to the visit with the in-laws because after you read our list, you won’t want to leave the house…

Salt & Pepper review: fill the bowls to win

Most people mix salt and pepper on their food. In fact, someone should invent a container that holds both seasonings together so you don’t have to go through all those extra steps. It is very rare that you’d meet a person that keeps salt and pepper separate on their plate. However, this game requires that you separate your seasonings by filling them into bowls.

Salt & Pepper: A Physics Game is what it says, a physics-based puzzle game. Players must fill the black bowl with pepper and the white bowl with salt. However, when walls, blocks, and moving platforms block the pathway, getting the seasonings into their respective bowls is much harder than you’d think…

WordWildWest turns speed typing into a shooting game

I know it sounds like a learning game, but we are not talking about Westward Ho, here. This game isn’t what you would call “educational.” We are talking about an arcade shooter game that just happens to involve typing.

WWWest! Head Quiz Word & Challenge Flap (I know, odd name) is a speed typing game where players must tap out words as fast as possible in order to shoot down the signs. You’ll be spelling out 10-letter words before you can say lightsaber…

Har.mo.ny sequel is more of the same, but better

Last October, we reviewed BoarderLeap’s relaxing minimalist puzzle game Har.mo.ny. The attractive, flat design and tranquil soundtrack makes it the perfect game for fans of simple action, complex puzzle challenges. The more you play, the more hooked you get.

Har.mo.ny 2 recently launched in the App Store and I can definitely say it is more of the same, but better. Instead of only one game mode, there are now seven. There are dozens of pleasing color palates, hundreds of levels, and new soundscapes to give you an enjoyable brain exercise at any time...

Apps of the week: Rival knights, Phantom Flower, Camera Fx8 Free, and more

This is my favorite time of the week. When we get to round up new apps and games that our faithful readers can check out for their weekend relaxation time. I’ve got my list ready for downloading. How about you?

Whether you are looking for some fun games to play, need a new photo editor, or are looking for new people to follow on Twitter, we’ve got a list of apps and games you might find to be enjoyable this weekend…
