Booq offers creative hardshell laptop sleeve and roomy backpack

There are a few product categories with which I am obsessed – mugs, jackets, and backpacks. Thankfully, my position at iDB allows me to feed one of those addictions on a fairly regular basis. A good backpack is your best friend. While traveling, on the road, or sometimes heading into the office, your backpack is with you on a daily basis.

Proper weigh distribution, materials, zipper quality, and pockets are key features for a good bag. What accessories you choose to use with the bag is also important. Today, we take a closer look at the Booq Boa shift backpack and Booq Viper hardcase 13. The combination is a one-two punch for protecting the items most valuable to you, a MacBook, iPhone, and iPad...

Kenu Airframe is the perfect dashboard companion for your iPhone

Keeping iPhone within arm's reach while driving is not only convenient, but also a matter of life and death. Every day, people wreck their vehicles fumbling around for their smartphone while driving. There are many mounts on the market, offering easy access to a smart device. However, I would argue Kenu's Airframe is chart topping.

When designing a car mount, there are a few factors that must be considered: where is it going; how will it attach; what will it hold; is it portable. While portability is not the most important, the Airframe will easily detach and run with you to the next step. Airframe is a great solution in a small package...

Simple geometry wallpapers

Another Sunday, another set of wallpapers. As the World Cup continues to rage, you may want to go back in time. Last week, we featured World Cup wallpapers to help everyone get excited about the continuing world wide fútbol battle. For additional Wold Cup coverage, check out our latest Let's Talk iOS podcast, which has armchair commentary from your favorite iDownloadBlog podcasters, @SébastienPage, @JeffBenjam, and @Melvco.

Moving away from theme-related wallpapers this week, I am featuring a wallpaper set submitted by avid iDB reader, Afrokat. A frequenter among the involved readers, I have received items from him, time-to-time. Today, his simple geometric designs grace the Wallpapers of the Week section...

Seagate’s Backup Plus line offers various storage options in small package

Seagate is the world's largest provider of external hard drives by volume. Personally, I have around five or more scattered around my home, office and desk--too many to attempt to round up for an accurate count. They make great LAN, portable, wireless, and desktop class storage. Of course Seagate makes internal drives as well, but my experience with them is less versed. As I have witnessed, assumedly along with others familiar with the product line, Seagate is now producing a more creative approach to an otherwise simple storage device.

External storage, as a whole, used to be a simple drag-and-drop venture. Arguably, it was a simpler time. I really appreciate the ability to just plug in a drive and drop stuff to it. However, with the advent of social media, home networking, and some creative thinking, external storage is now something much different. Considering the Seagate Backup Plus line of products, which I first discovered at CES 2014, social sharing and saving are now integrated with the drives...

2014 World Cup wallpapers for iPhone and iPad

Throughout the wallpaper section, we host theme wallpapers, feature specific artists, or highlight trends with movies, TV shows, and the like.  Of course, we always keep up with the latest Apple announcement wallpapers and even store openings, like the most recent in Japan.

However, current events are not usually our inspiration. Then again, with the Wallpapers of the Week section only recently celebrating its first birthday, only several major events have excited the whole world. Thanks to a global readership, we like to highlight wallpapers that all can enjoy. This week, as the FIFA World Cup narrows the field, equip your iOS devices for the final rounds...

Tokyo Apple Store wallpapers

After celebrating the Wallpapers of the Week one year anniversary, we forge on to year two. With our new beginning, it is proper to use another fresh start to honor the occasion. Just this past Friday, June 13 at 10:00AM, Apple opened a new store in Omotesando Japan. As always, the store opening was heralded with much fanfare and a feature video captures the exciting moments of building the store.

Prior to revealing the store's interior, a large set of poster images covered the all glass front. The posters included images of greenery. Lisa Jackson, at the Fortune Brainstorm Green conference, spoke about the company's efforts to become more eco friendly. While data centers are turning to renewable resources, the Japan store utilizes a vine covered wall to act as a natural climate control system...

Wallpapers of the week: one year anniversary edition

Looking back, we have come a long way over the past 52 weeks. Beginning the section, we were featuring specific artists on a weekly basis. This phase generated great exposure for potentially unknown talent. However, as time progressed, it became clear that just grabbing the best walls on the web would be the best option based on reader feedback.

The idea began after the first evasi0n walls were launched on iDB, receiving more than 30,000 collective downloads, and even boasting top spot on a Forbes article, which heralded the great work of the evad3rs. Once Sebastien and I decided to go with the weekly feature, we were excited to see the first post of iOS 7-ready wallpapers receive 237 tweets and 230 Facebook likes. With a shockingly aggressive start, the feature earned its right to remain.

Through the last year a few theme-based trends, movie wallpapers, sunny days, and holidays were all highlighted. Don't forget about our Apple announcement walls, which always make a splash. Within the post, we pick our top wallpapers from the past year, highlight some great user submitted images, and forge on toward the next 52 weeks...

Download the iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite wallpapers

Today, Apple announced the newest version of its desktop operating system, OS X 10.10, also known as "Yosemite." With a vast array of new features, 10.10 is one of the largest departures from previous versions we have seen in many years. Sporting exciting additions like Continuity, which promises a more streamlined experience when switching between iOS devices and desktop devices, we are really enjoying getting through some of the beta testing.

Each new version of any OS includes at least one amazing wallpaper from Apple. Today, we discovered one new wallpaper with each iOS 8 and Yosemite. Inside, find the full resolution versions for your selective devices...

iOS 8 and OS X wallpapers

Almost concurrently with the WWDC 2014 announcement, many fans began pointing me in the direction of wallpapers to match the designs. Several weeks ago, we posted an assortment of WWDC 2014 wallpapers, to much fanfare.

With the conference starting tomorrow, Apple began preparations at San Francisco's Moscone Center. The first glance of new product imagery comes with the hanging of banners, inside and out.  At the end of last week, Apple finalized their scene setting with iOS 8 and OS X banners. Inside, we included wallpapers inspired by the marketing images, submitted by fans...

Natural summer wallpapers

Hopefully, you are tracking the progress of the Wallpapers of the Week section. Over the past 49 weeks, we shared some of the best wallpapers we could find, on a weekly basis. Of course, there are millions of images across the internet, but we limit the selection to a per week system, showcasing the best over the past seven days.

As we work toward our one year anniversary in a few weeks, we encourage you to continue sharing your images, either in the comment section, via twitter @jim_gresham, or email jim@idownloadblog.com...

Video games wallpapers

Over the past few weeks, Wallpapers of the Week hosted theme-based wallpaper packs. Based on user comments, today is no different. Moving away from photorealistic imagery, this week features video game inspired wallpapers.

Save everyone's favorite iOS classic, Flappy Birds, these wallpapers enjoy a serious tone. From Assassin's Creed to Battlefield and Mortal Kombat, all the wallpapers below celebrate groundbreaking games that were popularized through various platforms...

Sky wallpapers

Over the past two weeks, we included theme-based wallpaper images. First, a Breaking Bad theme really seemed to get people excited. Following the popular television wallpaper trend, a Game of Thrones group was added.

Maintaining a bit of weekly surprise, a different image track is taken with this batch. Moving into the summer creates a longer lasting day and more time to enjoy nature's attractiveness. The ever-changing sky is the cause of many artistic shots. This week, we highlight those natural tendencies...
