Research Finds Over 8 Million iPad Gamers in the US

The Loop points to some interesting findings in a recent report by Interpret, a marketing research firm. The work explores the iPad's popularity among both traditional and non-traditional gamers in the United States.

We've known for awhile now that Apple's iOS platform was making the gaming industry nervous, but I don't think we knew how much. Interpret is reporting that the iPad's gaming base has grown to over 8 million in the US alone...

US Marines Air Defense Team Replaces Physical Maps with iPads

Back in July, we reported that the US military was working on integrating consumer smartphone and tablet technology into soldier's field gear. Apparently the military's technology, at least in that regard, was a bit outdated.

Now it looks like the folks pushing for updated technology have recorded their first win, as WIRED is reporting that the 3rd Aircraft Wing of the US Marines have purchased 32 iPads. The tablets are for its Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HLMA)...

New Bentley Concept Includes iPads and Other Apple Gear

Recognize the gorgeous interior featured in the photo above? It's the backseat of a new concept car from world-renowned luxury car-maker Bentley. The interior concept garnered a lot of oohs and ahs at last week's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Why are we so interested in the vehicle? This isn't your ordinary Bentley (is there such a thing?). Built into the backs of both front seats are two iPads, with bluetooth keyboards. The car also features an iPod touch and a host of other Apple gear...

It's no secret that Starbucks has been in bed with Apple for a long time. The popular coffee chain has been giving away free iTunes tracks to its customers for years.

Last month we told you that the pair had stepped up their partnership to start offering free apps in Starbucks stores, and now they've added more media content to the promotion...

White iPhone 4S Pops Up in AT&T’s Retail Software

Hold on to your hats folks, Engadget just dropped a bombshell. The tech blog just published a photo it received from a tipster that appears to be of a screen from AT&T's internal retail software.

The screenshot looks like it was taken from the carrier's trouble ticket system, a place where reps can pass issues on to tech support. What's so interesting about the pic? It seemingly outs a new Apple device — the iPhone 4S...

Use Your iPhone to Control a Tiny Ball with Sphero

Using the iPhone to remotely control cars and other vehicles was once limited to hackers and hobbyist. But ever since Parrot introduced the AR.Drone, we've seen several RC accessories hit the iOS scene.

It seems like remote control helicopters are all the rage with accessory-makers this Fall, but Orbotix has something else in mind. They want you to use your iDevice to control a Fushigi-looking robotic sphere...

Park4U Lets You Use Your iPhone to Park Your Car Remotely

Remember a few years ago when self-parking cars were all the rage? It seems that the novelty has worn off (and lawsuits have ensued), as we haven't seen many car-makers touting the feature as of late.

Enter Park4U. The assisted-parking system by Valeo uses several sensors and other components to help drivers squeeze their vehicles into even the tightest parking spots, without ever needing to touch the wheel...

About Those iPhone 5 Cases

It seems as though Case-Mate started a firestorm with its little publicity stunt yesterday. I call it that because whether its depiction of the iPhone 5 was accurate or not, I'm sure the company enjoyed the extra traffic.

The iPhone mockups in Case-Mate's photos looked an awful lot like the iPad 2, and some folks didn't like that. In fact, our very own Jeff wrote a piece about the images. But love 'em or hate 'em, the design can't be too far off. And here's why...

Apple Quietly Hits the $400 per Share Mark Again

In the months and years leading up to Steve Jobs' resignation, most of Wall Street seemed pretty nervous about Apple's fate, post-Jobs. His ongoing health issues garnered constant speculation on whether the company could keep pace without him.

Last month, everyone was forced to confront their fears. Jobs sent out a somber resignation letter, admitting he could no longer carry out his CEO duties. But as the last few weeks have shown, Apple seemingly hasn't skipped a beat...

Target Marks iPad 2 as Discontinued, New iPad Coming?

What ever happened to those rumors that claimed Apple would be releasing an iPad 3 (or iPad HD/Pro) this year? For a while there, pundits were claiming that the company was going to unveil a new tablet this Fall, alongside the iPhone 5.

But as with most tech gossip, the new iPad theory eventually lost traction. And then out of no where, TiPb kickstarted the debate again this morning by reporting that Target has been marking the iPad 2 as end of life...

Analysts are Calling RIM’s PlayBook Another iPad Casualty

Men lie, women lie, numbers don't. Research in Motion once again reported dismal quarterly earnings yesterday that failed to meet Wall Street's, and even the company's own expectations.

Among the disappointing statistics RIM offered up were the number of BlackBerry PlayBooks it shipped (not sold) last quarter. Missing projections by 500,000 units, the company unloaded a mere 200,000 tablets...
