How to reset Vision Pro settings, or erase all content and settings from it

In this tutorial, we will show you how to reset all settings on your Apple Vision Pro or just the selected one, like network and location settings. We will also share how to erase everything on your Vision Pro to wipe it clean and restore it to factory default.

Apple Vision Pro with Dual Loop

Like iPhone and iPad, you can do the following on your Apple Vision Pro:

  • Reset all or selected settings, like resetting just the network settings, the location & privacy settings, keyboard dictionary data, and surroundings data.
  • The second option is to completely erase the device’s data and settings. This will make the Vision Pro software the same as it was when you first took it out of the box and turned it on.

Erase Apple Vision Pro

If you are planning to give, sell, or trade in your Apple Vision Pro, you must wipe everything on it and restore it to its default factory state. Doing so will ensure your personal data like photos, videos, app data, settings, Apple ID, Messages, Music, and everything else is not passed on to the next user.

Erasing your Vision Pro is also helpful if you want a fresh start or are facing major issues that can be fixed by wiping it clean.

Before you get to the steps to wipe your Apple Vision Pro clean, here are some important points to consider:

Back up your Apple Vision Pro to iCloud: This will be helpful if you plan on restoring your data on a new Vision Pro or the current Vision Pro after full erasure.

Sign out of your Apple ID: Go to Vision Pro Settings and tap your Apple ID name from the top. Now, scroll down and tap Sign Out. Next, enter your Apple ID password and hit Turn Off. Doing so will disable the Find My Activation Lock as well as sign you out of iCloud, App Store, and iTunes Store on Vision Pro.

Remove personal info from individual apps: If you no longer plan on using a Vision Pro, you can go inside exclusive visionOS apps and delete your personal information from them, like your email, credit card details, etc. You can also delete the account or replace your main email with a throwaway email address.

Once you have taken care of the above points, here’s how to completely wipe your Apple Vision Pro:

1) Open the Settings app on your Apple Vision Pro.

2) Tap General > Transfer or Reset This Apple Vision Pro.

3) Now tap Erase All Content and Settings or Erase all of your data from Apple Vision Pro and confirm.

If you did not log out of your Apple ID earlier, you may see a screen to enter your Apple ID password. This is necessary to remove Activation Lock. So make sure you type your Apple ID password.

Once the erasure process is complete, you will get back to the initial setup screen:

  • If you want to use it for yourself, go through the setup and complete it using your Apple ID.
  • If you’re selling, giving away, or trading your Apple Vision Pro, leave the device on the setup screen and simply turn it off. The new user will complete the setup using their own Apple ID and desired preferences.
