The Wallet app on your iPhone provides integrated purchase and order tracking. And now, iOS 16.4 brings new Home Screen widgets specifically for that functionality.
- What’s happening? iOS 16.4 has added new widgets for the Wallet app’s integrated order-tracking features.
- Why care? These new widgets bring glanceable order tracking for purchases made with Apple Pay right to your iPhone’s Home Screen.
- What to do? Start using Apple Pay if you haven’t already.
iOS 16.4 brings new Home Screen order tracking widgets
Apple hasn’t provided widgets for the Wallet app’s integrated order-tracking feature before, but that’s changing now. In iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4, there are new Order Tracking widgets for your Home Screen, available in three sizes.
You can now quickly glance at your iPhone’s Home Screen instead of firing up the Wallet app whenever you want to see updates on the order you’ve been tracking.
The new Order Tracking widget joins the Wallet app’s only Home Screen widget for glancing at your Apple Card balance and spending activity.
How to use the new Wallet Order Tracking widget
If you’re on iOS 16.4, touch and hold the Home Screen background until the app icons start jiggling, then hit the + (plus) icon in the top-left corner to access the widget gallery. Scroll down to select Wallet in the list, then choose the Order Tracking widget and swipe through the available size options.
Order tracking in the Wallet app debuted in iOS 16.0. The feature provides detailed receipt and package tracking information for Apple Pay purchases within the iPhone’s Wallet app. However, support on the seller’s end is necessary, meaning the feature will only work for orders with non-participating merchants.
How to track Apple Pay purchases and orders in Wallet
You can track orders made with Apple Pay by selecting your purchase in the Orders section of the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone with iOS 16.0 or later.
- Hit the Orders button that resembles a little package.
- Select a purchase to see more details.
- Hit a link to track your order on the shipping company’s website.
You can also view information such as order status, order number, purchase total, estimated arrival time, the status of your payment and whether there are any issues with your order. As explained in a support article on Apple’s website, you can also touch your credit or debit card in the Wallet app to choose a recent transaction to view related order-tracking details.
