Apple hires former Lamborghini executive to lead the charge on its rumored electric car

Is Apple working on an electric car? Probably. Project Titan has been rumored for so long now that if Apple does eventually unveil a car of some kind, it will inevitably result in an, “About time” response from a lot of people. Until then, though, we’ve got reports of people getting hired by Apple to work on the fabled machine.

Here’s another one! According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has hired a former, key executive from Lamborghini. That person is Luigi Taraborrelli, and during his stint at Lamborghini he helped lead the design of the vehicle over the course of his 20 years at the company. That includes vehicle-dynamics engineering and the chassis.

At this point, it sounds like Taraborrelli will be leading the charge on the design of Apple’s oft-rumored electric car. And it will certainly be an interesting design if the rumor mill has any say on the matter. It was recently reported that Apple is apparently going with a fully autonomous vehicle that will feature four seats inside — all facing inwards.

On top of that, the car is said to feature a roof that’s domed, similar in style to the Volkswagen Beetle, and a trunk that will lift automatically.

Or maybe none of this will pan out and Apple will just keep working on autonomous vehicle software, rather than launch an actual vehicle. Who knows! We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
