Apple seeds fourth betas of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, tvOS 15.1, and watchOS 8.1; tenth macOS Monterey beta to developers

The march towards a public launch of iOS 15 continues. Apple is back with another beta for its next update to its popular mobile operating system, along with iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and macOS. And today, new betas are available for each platform.

On Wednesday, Apple seeded the fourth betas of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, tvOS 15.1, and watchOS 8.1 to developers. In addition to that, the company also seeded the tenth beta of macOS Monterey 12 to developers as well. As is par for the course, despite the relatively late beta testing phase, this prerelease software shouldn’t be installed on any daily drivers.

The software is potentially still a little rough around the edges, so it should be only installed on testing devices.

Developers can update their registered devices via the over-the-air software mechanism. The new prerelease software can also be downloaded via the official developer portal. It’s likely Apple will seed corresponding public betas in the near future.

As far as what’s new, that remains to be seen as far as this beta is concerned. If anything changes in that regard, we will update this post accordingly.

However, there is new elements to iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1, which Apple brought into the mix with the first developer beta. SharePlay, for instance, makes its triumphant return to the mobile software. With SharePlay, users will allow users to share their screen while using FaceTime, create group playlists in Apple Music, watch synced movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app, and more.

iOS 15.1 also adds support for Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos audio support for paired HomePod and HomePod mini smart speakers.

The new software also brings the ability to add COVID-19 vaccination cards into the Wallet app.

iOS 15.1 also adds the ability to disable Apple TV and Apple Watch keyboard notifications. It also adds the “Auto Macro” toggle for the camera, making it easy for iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max users to disable the auto switching for macro photography.

In addition to iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1’s latest betas, Apple also seeded the latest betas for watchOS 8.1, tvOS 15.1, and the tenth beta of macOS Monterey 12.
