Byline, Happy Things, Beep Test Watch, and other apps to check out this weekend

In this week’s episode of our Apps of the Week roundup, we have a fun, collaborative writing app, a new take on a mindfulness app, and finally a minimal-but-useful fitness app. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Byline: Multiplayer Writing

Yep, multiplayer writing is a thing. With Byline, serendipitous stories come together one line at a time, with each writer only seeing one line before theirs. Just write the first line to your story, post it to the site and watch things get weird! What a fun/cool idea.

Happy Things 🙂

Here is an interesting take on all of the journal/mindfulness apps out there. Happy Things turns scientific and psychological principles into short practices that only take you a few minutes to complete, such as: Listen to a song that motives you. And no IAPs!

Beep Test Watch

I don’t typically like to highlight Apple Watch-only apps, but I also like mixing things up once in a while so…here we are. Beep Test calculates your VO2 Max level, which tells you how much oxygen your body can absorb during exercise—a helpful fitness indicator.

Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!

Had to mention the return of Crash! This is essentially your standard endless running with a nice mixture of Crash characters, customization and various game modes like team runs. Even if you’re not familiar with the franchise, this seems like a fun runner to check out.

Guroku

Looking for something a little more tame? Check out Guroko. It sounds like a Pokemon character, but it is actually a logic-based game in which you must move colored squares around to get them on rings of the same color. If you are the puzzle-type, check it out!
