Code strings uncovered from the iOS 14 code that Apple has been testing internally apparently confirm that the next iPad Pro will rock the same triple-lens rear camera as the current iPhone 11 Pro smartphones, consisting of wide-angle, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses.

According to the iOS 14 code, the upcoming iPad Pro refresh will include a new triple-lens camera array like previous supply chain reporting has suggested. This camera setup will include a time-of-flight 3D sensor, a wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens. This is a major update from the current iPad Pro.
The triple-lens camera upgrade was previously hinted at by a leaked image of a third-party case that shows a square-shaped cutout for the rear camera, embedded right ahead.
A triple-lens system would represent a major departure from the current models that use a single rear camera despite having enough oomph to handle multiple camera imaging.
The current third-generation iPad Pro has a single-lens twelve-megapixel rear shooter for taking photos, recording 4K video, document scanning and augmented reality and a seven-megapixel front-facing TrueDepth camera for Portrait selfies, FaceTime, Animoji and Memoji.
The next iPad Pro should should bring other hardware improvements such as a new mini-LED backlight system, in addition to cool perks like 5G capability, a glass back panel and more.
Apple could also launch a new Smart Keyboard for the next iPad Pro thought to feature a built-in trackpad via significantly enhanced mouse support in iOS 14 along with scissor switch keys.

As for the rumored time-of-flight rear sensor, it could be utilized not only for enhanced iPad photography but also for things such as new augmented reality features. As we reported earlier today, Apple seems to be developing a new iOS 14 app, code-named “Gobi”, that will let you see actionable information about the world around you in augmented reality.
Apple should preview the upcoming iOS 14, macOC 10.16, watchOS 7 and tvOS 14 updates at its Worldwide Developers Conference that should take place this summer. However, it’s looking increasingly likely that a physical gathering in San Jose could be cancelled in favor of virtual meetings and presentations due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
