Twelve South’s new accessory connects your Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2

Premium accessory maker Twelve South has been on a roll lately. They kicked off 2017 in a style with an armband accessory for Apple Watch [review], which was quickly followed by their luxurious shell cases for iPhone 7 [review]. Today, the company launched its newest accessory, called MagicBridge.

Like its predecessor, MagicWand, the $34.99 MagicWand marries your Apple Wireless Keyboard to your Magic Trackpad 2. This lets you place your trackpad on either the left or right side of your keyboard to unleash a one-piece control surface that lets you type and swipe faster and more efficiently.

The resulting two-in-one combo not only helps tidy up your desk, it also gives giving you full easy access to the power switches and Lightning ports for charging. MagicBridge is made from polycarbonate to avoid interference with Bluetooth signals.

The accessory features silicone pads on the inside to protect the keyboard and trackpad while the silicone feet underneath helps protect your desk from marks and scratches. “When you look down, its white frame seamlessly integrates with the matte white keyboard and trackpad,” says the company.

MagicBridge doesn’t take up more space on your desk than your keyboard and trackpad combined, and it’s very light: it’s 0.55 inches tall (1.4 cm), 17.4 inches wide (44.3 cm), 4.68 inches deep (11.9 cm) and weighs in just 6.03 ounces, or 170 grams.

As mentioned, MagicBridge’s edges hold your keyboard and trackpad securely in place without interfering with typing/swiping while a precisely engineered grill out the back gives you full access to charging ports and power in either left or right configuration.

By creating an integrated control surface with your wireless keyboard and trackpad joined together, you can do things like use your Mac-based home theater setup in your lap, control a Keynote presentation from across the room, work with your keyboard on your lap and your feet up on the desk and more.

It essentially creates a larger keyboard of sorts that’s more stable and easier to use.

MagicBridge works with Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2. The gizmo ships with the include riser and is available in matte white from the Twelve South website in exchange for $34.99.
