Tempo Smart Calendar updated with widget, interactive notifications and more

Tempo Smart Calendar for iOS just received a big update, bringing the app to version 1.6. The update allows the app to take full advantage of the new functionality in iOS 8, adding a new Notification Center widget and support for interactive notifications.

With the new Tempo Widget, users can see their upcoming events, as well as information about their next immediate meeting. And with interactive notifications, users can get directions, dial-in to conference calls, and check on things like their flight status.

Another Nintendo emulator sneaks onto App Store

A file management app innocently named Floppy Cloud, which contains a hidden emulator of the Nintendo NES and Super Nintendo, is now available in the App Store.

As pointed out by TouchArcade, its developer Kyle Hankinson has cunningly exploited the annual App Store shutdown to sneak Floppy Cloud onto Apple's servers “moments before the iTunes freeze,” which started yesterday and ends on December 29.

Developers are unable to upload new code to the App Store during the iTunes freeze window so Floppy Cloud should be available on the App Store for a few days before Apple pulls it first thing in the morning on December 29.

Space-themed board game Galaxy Trucker comes to iPhone with pocket edition

A few months ago, Galaxy Trucker launched in the App Store exclusively on the iPad. Fans of the original board game were subject to tablet playing, or not playing at all. Luckily, the game’s developer realized that iPhone owners are board game players too and reacted accordingly.

Galaxy Trucker Pocket is the iPhone version of the popular space ship building card game. Players connect different cards to their ship’s engine in order to build the most epic space racer in the galaxy. If you don’t place cards in ideal locations, you may see your ship crumble to pieces.

The Hit List will help you organize your life in time for the New Year

Around this time of year, I start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. I’ll admit that I only keep about half of my resolutions, but half is better than none, right? One goal that is always on my list is to get more organized. It is also one that I fail to meet nearly every year.

The Hit List is a complex organizer for the iPhone that lets you make multiple lists, make project cards with due dates, and organize tasks by categories. Plus, sync with The Hit List for Mac to always be on top of your daily, weekly, and long-term projects.

Facebook’s ‘Stickered for Messenger’ app now available on iOS

Facebook this evening released its odd 'Stickered for Messenger' app for iOS. First released on Android last week, Stickered allows users to add some fun stickers to their photos before sending them off to friends and family on Messenger.

More specifically, the app allows you to snap a photo, or pull one in from your camera roll, and pick from hundreds of stickers to apply. You can move the images around, resize them, and then pop into Messenger to send off your work.

JailbreakCon 2015 is in the works, and this is how you can help

The fine folks at saurikIT are already working on planning the 2015 edition of JailbreakCon, the only event to my knowledge entirely dedicated to jailbreaking and the community around it. Although I haven't personally been involved in the planning of the event, I understand that a lot of work and preparation goes into it, with one of the main challenges being to figure out what exactly attendees expect from the event. This is where you come in.

DockPhone lets you easily place phone calls from your Mac

DockPhone is a new app that lets you dial and call any number directly from your Mac. Based on FaceTime's capabilities, and taking advantage of the new Continuity feature found on OS X Yosemite, DockPhone lets you make calls via your iPhone cellular connection right from the Mac, effectively adding a simple feature that users would have expected Apple to ship with Yosemite in the first place.

The update is rolling out now on the iTunes App Store. Viewing analytics is as simple as clicking on your tweet, going to its detail page, and tapping "View Tweet Activity."

T-Mobile CEO John Legere lambasts competition in holiday ad

You've seen Apple's moving Christmas ad so how about some Un-carrier holiday greeting? T-Mobile, America's only Un-carrier, did just that with its new holiday ad posted to YouTube on Monday.

Featuring its outspoken boss John Legere, the tongue-in-cheek video depicts the CEO sitting cozily in a chair and grinning mischievously as he reads us a magical story from the land of the Un-carrier.

Need I say more?

As you might imagine, he couldn't refrain himself from dissing competitors and firing potshots at Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. And if you for one second thought a holiday greeting from Legere should be profanity-free, think again!
