Remember Antennagate? As you know, a settlement was reached in the class-action lawsuit concerning the signal attenuation issue stemming from the iPhone 4 antenna design. The settlement includes Apple issuing a free iPhone bumper case or $15 to eligible iPhone 4 owners in the United States.

Tim Cook visited Foxconn in recent trip to China

On Monday, we told you that Tim Cook was taking his first tour of China as Apple's CEO. Although we've heard some gossip about Cook's intentions for the visit, the nature of the trip is still somewhat of a mystery.

Paper, a new iPad sketch app, launched last night with quite a bang. That's not surprising when you consider it has a gorgeous UI, and the fact that many of its creators are ex-Microsoft employees, who once worked on the infamous Courier project.

iTunes updated to version 10.6.1

iTunes has been updated to version 10.6.1, bringing a bunch of bug fixes:

Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view, and syncing photos to devices. Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes. Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle. Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

As far as I can tell, this iTunes update is jailbreak-safe.

More Apple Television speculation suggests a 2013 release

Now the new iPad is here, attentions have begun to turn to Apple's next big thing. While it is true that the iPhone 5, or more likely the "New iPhone" will be that device, the proposed Apple Television is the thing that we are all getting excited about.

There are plenty of things we don't know yet about what Apple has up its sleeve. In fact, it's true that we know absolutely nothing for certain. As is so often the case, we are running on rumors and guesswork right now, not least when it comes to a potential release date.

Windows Phone considered legitimate iPhone contender, but has no apps

Earlier today we reported that AT&T is preparing to launch the Nokia Lumia 900 — a Windows Phone handset that the carrier believes could outsell the iPhone when it debuts next month. And according to a new survey, that may not be as crazy as it sounds.

PC World recently conducted a large-scale survey for its annual Readers' Choice Awards. The poll collects consumer feedback on wireless carriers, mobile operating systems, and smartphones. And some of the results may surprise you...

Rumor: Apple developing five-inch gadget with Retina display for 2013 release

File this one under the Unlikely category. According to an otherwise pretty credible Japanese blog, citing "reliable Chinese sources", Apple is working on a brand new mobile device featuring a five-inch Retina display. Specifically, it should have a screen resolution of either 1,600-by-960 pixels or 1,280-by-960 pixels. The gizmo is said to be released some time in 2013.

This sounds a lot like a blown-up iPod touch of sorts, which in its current incarnation incorporates a 3.5-inch Retina display with a 640-by-960 pixel resolution. Apple isn't the one to follow market trends - it dictates them instead.

That being said, however, surely club Cupertino must have been paying attention to the five million shipment milestone of Samsung's Galaxy Note phablet...

Proview slams Tim Cook for meeting Chinese politicians ahead of iPad ruling

As we reported on Monday, Apple CEO Tim Cook was on a China tour recently. He posed for iFan shots at the company's retail store inside Joy City, a Xidan, Beijing shopping mall. While the real purpose of his visit to the 1.33 billion people country (emerging as Apple's most important market) remains shrouded in secrecy, it does coincide with the Proview situation and an upcoming iPad launch in China.

According to a pair of news articles, Cook also met with local politicians to talk "intellectual-property issues". The meetings were "great", a spokesperson for the company said. However, Proview representatives were quick to slam Cook for conducting a “political public relations campaign”.

As you know, the embattled display maker Proview is suing Apple over the rights to use the iPad moniker in China, where Apple has yet to introduce its third-generation tablet. Shenzen courts are expected to rule on Apple’s latest appeal on the iPad trademark within 90 days.

AT&T says its upcoming Nokia Lumia 900 launch will top iPhone

Last October, the iPhone 4S launch set a number of records for both Apple and its carrier partners. AT&T claimed that it sold more than a million units of the popular handset, making it the most successful launch in the company's history.

But apparently the operator believes that it can top that with its upcoming Nokia Lumia 900 launch. The Windows Phone handset, which is scheduled to go on sale early next month, will feature LTE and a tiny $100 price tag...

Apple's numbers certainly make it look like it's sitting on top of the electronics world. But to figure out how popular the company really is, you have to look at who's buying its products, and how many they're buying. And that's exactly what CNBC did.

According to its recent All-America Economic survey, 50% of all US households own at least one Apple product. That equates to more than 55 million homes that have at least one iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Mac computer. But wait, there's more...

Steve Jobs didn’t really like the Siri name. What about you?

Siri, a digital assistant exclusive to the iPhone 4S, is heavily featured in Apple's advertising as it's the handset's key differentiator in the eye of public. For all the rage surrounding Siri, Apple's late co-founder Steve Jobs didn't really like her name to begin with. This comes from the mouth of Dag Kittlaus, the guy who made Siri and became a millionaire following a personal phone call from Steve Jobs.

"Siri" is Norwegian for "beautiful woman who leads you to victory." A new report highlighted Kittlaus's speech from last weekend in which he briefly reflected on how he came up with the Siri name and why Steve Jobs wasn't a fan of his choice.
