Google-owned Snapseed brings back Grunge filter, adds a couple improvements

Following a major 2.0 refresh in April of this year, Google on Friday issued a minor update to Snapseed, its mobile photo editing app popular amongst iPhone photographers.

Available free of charge in the App Store, Snapseed 2.0.2 features half a dozen improvements, among them the popular Grunge filter which has made an unexpected comeback following its mysterious removal.

“After releasing Snapseed 2, we’ve heard a lot of excited voices, but also listened to your constructive feedback,” Sven Tiffe, Snapseed's technical program manager wrote in a blog post. “You told us and we heard you, Grunge is back!”

Flickr 4.0: auto-upload is back, revamped UI, new filters, Instagram sharing and more

Yahoo-owned Flickr has refreshed its iPhone application this morning with a number of significant changes, most notably redesigning the user interface for easier navigation and bringing back the auto-upload feature (originally added in 2013, but subsequently removed).

The app also brings out a brand new Camera Roll section which looks a lot like the iOS Camera Roll. Coupled with one terabyte of free storage for your photo and video uploads, the new Flickr 4.0 for iOS is a worthy alternative to Apple's stock Photos + iCloud Photo Library combo.

Instagram releases photo collage app Layout

Facebook-owned Instagram on Monday announced a brand new mobile application called Layout, dedicated to making interesting photo collages.

Layout from Instagram is rolling out today for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. The app will be available as a free download in the App Store. Currently only available for iOS, Layout will be available for Android in the coming months.

How about an app for 3D printing your selfies?

If you ever wanted a 3D printed selfie, there’ll soon be an app for that. Developer Dacuda has teamed up with Stockholm, Sweden based Volumental on the world's first mobile application for easily creating printable 3D selfies.

The software works by capturing a video of one's face on a tablet and is being shown off at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, CNBC reported last weekend.
