Indie GamesSure, companies like Gameloft, Activision, and Warner Brothers are launching amazing-looking hugely popular games in iOS and they are impressive, to say the least. But the big-timers have a lot more manpower and a lot more money to invest in perfecting their wares before they make it into the hands of gamers.

Indie game developers put in a lot of work to make their dreams a reality. Oftentimes, an independent game company consists of one or two people who hold down a full-time day job while spending their evening hours working in the back room as their kids are growing up around them.

We’ve got a list of indie games that we think are just as worthy of your attention as the ones that big time game companies have launched…

Worms has been around since 8 bit gaming console days, Amiga days… Not one that I would have expected on this list.

    • It is nonetheless an indie game

      • NaSty

If thats the case then i would’ve expected LIMBO to be on this list too

      • LIMBO is another great Indie game.

    • J M

Agreed, didn’t realize the worms company was considered an indie developer…the fact that they have an employee base of 75 people does not make them a big huge company, but seems to stop a bit short of the indie definition that’s been provided in the article. Not disputing that I love worms, but definitely seems out of place for the selection list.

      • From the company’s website, “Team 17 Ltd. is one of the longest surviving, fully independent video game developer and publisher.”

    • Norbi Whitney

Yeah I was about to comment the same.
“This charming puzzle game” makes it sound like no-one has ever heard of Worms.

    • Worms is not on this list. Worms 3 is. I put it on the list because I know that the Worms franchise is hugely popular with Amiga gamers.

      • Taf Khan

LOL! Do Amiga gamers still exist.. .

Nihilumbra is one of the most underrated games I’ve ever played.
