Geohot has been causing quite a disturbance due to his ongoing legal battle with Sony. Geohot jailbroke the Sony PS3 to run unsigned code. Sony is now suing him, and Geohot is under the tech industry's spotlight more than ever.

So, what does all this have to do with Windows Phone 7? Microsoft has shown interest in Geohot before, and the company even reached out to him financially for his legal fight against Sony. Geohot will know be using his hacking skills at an upcoming convention to try and jailbreak Windows Phone 7...

Take that Apple! Microsoft has allegedly donated money to the famous iPhone hacker Geohot for his legal battle against Sony. In case you didn't know by now, George "Geohot" Hotz is in a legal skirmish with Sony because he jailbroke the PS3.

Since Geohot represents the jailbreak community, he obviously isn't on Apple's good list. Perhaps Microsoft wanted to take a little jab at Apple by supporting one of the most famous iPhone hackers...

Awhile back, we showed you a jailbreak theme called "OS7" that replicated Windows Phone 7's interface on the iPhone. Some of you installed the theme and played around with it. The theme's attention to detail and resemblance to Windows Phone 7 was striking.

An app called Muzik, by Dr. Wilson Gaming, allows you to play your iPod music in the style of Windows Phone 7 and the Zune. Muzik recently received some major updates to make it a more formidable clone of the Zune experience.

If, for some reason, you want the ability to replicate the Zune interface on your iPhone, Muzik is about as good as it gets.

Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 platform is a step in the right direction for the industry titan. The announcement of the Windows Phone 7 OS was like a breath of fresh air after the antiquated and sluggish years of the Windows Mobile reign.

The Windows Phone 7 interface is quite unique. Microsoft had some very creative ideas when they designed the vertical, tile-like navigation in the OS. Windows Phone 7 live tiles display realtime information from apps for things like social networks and weather services.

Wyndwarrior, a jailbreak theme creator, has created a Windows Phone 7 theme for iOS. While there are other Winterboard themes that try and mimic the interface and features of Microsoft's mobile OS, Wyndwarrior's "OS7" bears a striking resemblance to the look and feel of Windows Phone 7...

Microsoft Invites Geohot to Develop For Windows Phone 7

It looks like Microsoft is embracing the homebrew interest its new mobile phone platform is garnering. Already taking initiative by meeting with members of the team behind ChevronWP7 -- a jailbreak and unlock app for Windows Phone 7 -- Microsoft has extended an offer to one of the iPhone scene's finest.

Brandon Watson, the self described "Entrepreneur on loan to Microsoft," reached out to George Hotz, aka Geohot, offering him a free phone in an attempt to lure him into the WP7 arena.

To me this reeks of a calculated move to get more people talking about Microsoft's mobile offerings, as Apple continues to make headlines in the mobile landscape...

It Looks Like HTC Has Their Own Antenna Issues to Worry About

Apple took loads of heat earlier this year due to the issues surrounding the iPhone 4 so-called 'Death Grip' which causes the signal strength to plummet when the phone is held a certain way. Apple replied by saying that all smartphones suffer from this issue to a certain degree, a point that HTC notably took issue with.

Unfortunately for Apple, the popularity of their products put a huge red target on their backs, and the fact that they didn't properly own up to the issues didn't help them much either.
