TinyUmbrella Updated to Support 4.3.3 and iOS 4.2.8

If you've been jailbreaking for a while, you're probably an expert in saving your SHSH blobs. The task is fairly simple and enables you to downgrade to a working firmware, if you ever upgrade and things go wrong.

While many consider the cost of an iPhone expensive, the freedom to make it yours is priceless. If you recently updated to iOS 4.3.3, you're certainly going to want to make sure and backup your SHSH blobs...

Sn0wbreeze Updated to Support Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.3.3 and 4.2.8

As you've probably already seen with RedSn0w and PwnageTool, i0n1c has updated his untether exploit to support Apple's latest firmware. Like the previously mentioned titles, Sn0wbreeze has been updated to support iOS 4.3.3.

This release comes less than 72 hours after Apple dropped the new iOS software, which fixes the location bug we told you about last month. Though many of you folks didn't have much of a reason to upgrade, for those who did, we have you covered...

Apple to Offer Over the Air iOS Updates for iPhone

Most of you should be pretty familiar with the iOS update process by now. For anyone who needs a refresher, it's quite easy. You simply plug your iDevice into a USB port on your computer, and initiate the update through iTunes.

Although Apple's current method is fairly straight forward, competitors such as Google offer a more direct way for customers to get the latest software for their Android devices. I'll admit OTA (Over the Air) updates are convenient, but are they really the best way to deploy updates?

Twitter Buys Tweetdeck for $40-$50 Million

Twitter has acquired the popular Tweetdeck platform for a rumored buyout of $40-$50 million. This move is surprising considered that Tweetdeck very recently updated its iPhone app with a whole new design and set of features.

Tweetdeck has been a staple, cross-platform Twitter client for years. Twitter's buyout seems to be a reaction to UberMedia's original proposal to buy Tweetdeck.

What does this mean for the Twitter/Tweetdeck apps? That's the question on everyone's mind.

Download an App With a Developer Promo Code? Say Goodbye to Your Review Privileges

Apple has been ardently working on improving its App Store ranking and review system as of late. Just recently we reported that Apple had tweaked its ranking algorithm in an effort to improve the legitimacy of App Store rankings.

Now another new policy to help support their efforts has apparently gone into effect. Any app that has been obtained by means of a developer promo code is no longer eligible for review.

In fact, Apple explicitly states that if you want to review any such app, you will need to actually purchase said app...

Apple Will Fix Location Bug in iOS 4.3.3, Coming in the Next Two Weeks

Apple will be pushing an update to iOS in the next couple weeks that reportedly addresses the location tracking "bug" that has stormed the media. The iPhone's location database retained too much tracking info, and Apple plans on fixing that issue in iOS 4.3.3.

A few minor bugs will be addressed, but iOS 4.3.3 looks like it will mainly focus on the iPhone's location database.

How to Untether RedSn0w Jailbreak for Verizon iPhone Running iOS 4.2.7

If you've jailbroken your Verizon iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.7 with RedSn0w, you know that you've only got a tethered jailbreak. Lucky for you, there's a new Cydia package that allows you to untether your currently tethered RedSn0w jailbreak.

Following the update to Sn0wBreeze for the Verizon iPhone, an untether solution has been pushed for RedSn0w users and is now available in Cydia.

iOS 4.3.3 Coming in the Next Few Weeks?

It appears that iOS 4.3.3 could be dropping in the next few weeks. In Apple's recent response to the iPhone's location-tracking database, the company mentions that an update to iOS is coming, "sometime in the next few weeks."

Due to a bug in the iPhone's location database, Apple plans pushing an incremental update to iOS very soon. There's no word on an official release date, but we should be seeing iOS 4.3.3 before the end of next month.

Cydia Finally Back Online

Cydia is finally back online! Literally, after 86 hours of downtime due to Amazon's EC2 outage, Cydia is up and running.

Cydia's founder, saurik (aka Jay Freeman), announced the good news via Twitter. You will now be able to proceed with regular Cydia operations, such as purchasing packages, use of the Theme Center, and managing your Cydia accounts...

Cydia Operating “Below Capacity,” Saurik Updates Homepage with News about Amazon EC2 Outage

Cydia's backend has been extensively affected by Amazon's EC2 outage. Towards the end of last week, Amazon's popular EC2 cloud computing service went offline and affected many heavily-trafficked services across the internet.

When EC2 went under, Cydia's store and account infrastructure went with it. Any type of account activity remained unavailable until EC2 slowly started kicking back in over the weekend.

Cydia's creator and admin, saurik, has posted an update to Cydia's homepage explaining the issues that Cydia has been experiencing for the past 84+ hours.
