TaiG 2.1.3 Untether update released on default Cydia repos

For those of you already jailbroken when TaiG 2.1.3 launched earlier this morning, you may have wondered when you would be able to join in on the 2.1.3 fun. Sure, you could have always added TaiG's third-party repo, but understandably, some aren't comfortable with doing that for various reasons.

Well, the TaiG 2.1.3 untether now has saurik's stamp of approval, as it has appeared on his Telesphoreo default Cydia repo. This means that by performing a simple refresh on Cydia's changes tab, you should see an available upgrade to the TaiG untether.

As we mentioned earlier, TaiG has released version 2.1.3 of its jailbreak tool, and it's a significant update as far as fixes go. First and foremost, it works with virtual machines, so you no longer need to modify your virtual machine to use the tool. Secondly, it fixes the 20% hangup. With these things in mind, we thought we'd show you how to jailbreak using this latest TaiG update.

TaiG 2.1.3 released to fix virtual machine errors, missing icons, and hang ups at 20%

Good news for those of you still experiencing issues with the TaiG jailbreak for iOS 8.3: a new update for the tool has been released to fix several problems that are still plaguing users.

TaiG 2.1.3 has been released to address some major concerns with the tool, and although it remains a Windows-only app, the update brings changes to the way it responds when used with a virtual machine on Mac and Linux systems. Check out the full change log for all of the details.

Cydia developers can now mark their paid tweaks as iOS 8.3 compatible

Up until now, developers have not had the ability to mark their jailbreak tweaks in Cydia as iOS 8.3 compatible. This is because saurik wanted to ensure the stability of the TaiG iOS 8.3 jailbreak beforehand. Now that TaiG has proved its relative stability, Cydia is now officially open to iOS 8.3 enabled tweaks.

Now that TaiG has updated its iOS 8.3 jailbreak to play nice with Cydia Substrate, it's time to start exploring the vast library of jailbreak apps and tweaks available on Cydia. If you're new to Cydia, or even if you've just been out of the game for a while, it can be overwhelming.

TaiG CEO hints at an eventual iOS 9 jailbreak

TaiG CEO Xie Lei is feeling pretty bullish about the possibility of jailbreaking iOS 9, as evident by a comment posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo. In his comments, which appear to be appended on another post, similar to a quoted retweet on Twitter, Mr. Lei alludes to the future of TaiG's ambitions.

It's here, ladies and gentlemen. After a few files got leaked last night, TaiG has come back today with the official version of its jailbreak tool for iOS 8.3. The tool, which is dubbed as version 2.1.2, is for Windows only and features proper Cydia Substrate support. It also fixes the problems with iTunes, where the tool would get stuck at 20% or 60%.

In a previous post, I lamented about the fact that I received a dreaded virtual machine error when trying to run the TaiG jailbreak tool on VMware Fusion 7. The error went something like this: Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine.

Not only is that totally ambiguous, but it really didn't make much sense when you consider that the prior TaiG tool ran with no problems. After trying a few solutions I found via Google, I resigned myself to the fact that I would probably just have to settle and use the old tool instead..

TaiG issues a statement regarding “leaked” jailbreak packages

TaiG has commented on the "leaks" of its TaiG jailbreak tool and the untether debian package that has spread like wildfire on the Internet this evening. Earlier today, it was discovered by a reddit users that TaiG had uploaded new versions of its tool to the official TaiG server. In fact, the naming convention, which follows a naming standard, made it extremely easy to guess the exact location of the file.

On Chinese microblogging site Weibo, TaiG is advising against using these leaked files, as they are only for testing, and not official versions. It states that only the initial 2.0.0 version was an official release.

Users were understandably anxious to get their hands on these updated versions due to the fact that they packed in the much anticipated Cydia Substrate fixes. These fixes were necessary for users to be able to enjoy the many jailbreak tweaks that rely on this framework.
