It doesn't seem like it but Apple's free case program is coming to end soon. September 30th is the date Steve Jobs announced as reevaluation date and now Apple says that indeed the program will (sort of) fall by the wayside on that date.

Anyone who has an iPhone knows that trying to watch Flash videos is just not possible. There are a few hacks and cracks that bring synthetic Flash knockoffs to your device, though the jury is still out on how well they actually work. That could be changing real soon.

The way it works is when you click on a video that is Flash based, the app takes it from its original format and converts it to HTML 5. Such a simple sounding but brilliant idea by whoever is behind the development. HTML 5 of course is the format that Apple has regarded to be the future that eliminates Adobe's software.
The video shows off the seemingly stable app in action by loading an episode of The Daily Show. I can see Apple approving this and revering it to be the sort of example they speak of when they claim HTML 5 is the future. If only the app could make Jon Stewart consistently funny.

iOS devices of course include the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad tallied up as 1.1% of all hardware that used the internet. They ousted Linux with that number which fell for the second straight month to 0.85%. Windows took first place with Mac OS coming in 2nd.
The release of iOS 4.1 will come next week sometime but Gizmodo has gotten ahold of some screenshots that show off the new operating system's fanciest feature. As Steve Jobs announced today the new OS will enable high dynamic range photography, otherwise known as HDR.
For those who are unaware of the premise behind HDR, the feature takes multiple images to create a more colorful splash and sensation for the final product. I hope you're not holding your breath on multitasking and folders for iPad because according to Steve Jobs, it won't be available until November of this year.
When Apple introduced iOS 4, they made it clear that it wouldn't be available for iPad until "this fall", so technically we're on schedule. Still, I would have expected something sooner than that.
During a live event today, Steve Jobs made a demo of iOS 4.2 for iPad. It looks good but nothing groundbreaking.
