iPad 2, iOS 5, MobileMe, and Steve Jobs: What to Expect From Tomorrow’s Apple Event

Apple will be holding an iPad-centric event tomorrow at the Yerba Buena Center in San Fransisco, California. Honestly, that's all anyone knows at this point.

In the calm before the storm, speculation based on rumors based on leaks are all there is to go on. There's a good chance that Apple will address other products like MobileMe.

General consensus is that we'll also see a preview of iOS 5.0. An iOS 5 tease wouldn't be a stretch, especially with the probable release of the iPhone 5 this June.

Steve Jobs Denied Knighthood Due to Speaking Engagement Snub

Quite the humorous story making its rounds this morning; apparently Steve Jobs was denied knighthood by the UK government for refusing to accept a prior speaking engagement.

The speaking engagement was at the annual conference for the Labour Party, a political party in the UK.

Although all of this went down a few years ago, some of the details are just now making their way to the airwaves...

Today is Steve Job’s Birthday!

It's a big day for Apple. The industry titan has released new MacBookPro models, an OS X Lion preview has been seeded to develepors, and the man himself, Steve Jobs, turns 56 years old today!

The world would be a much different place without Steve's influence on the technology sphere. He has been quoted admitting he never knew he would have such success when he started Apple with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in a garage circa 1976.

Apple iPad Event to Take Place on March 2nd

Apple will be holding a press event next week at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Fransisco. The event is supposed to be focused on the iPad 2.

There have been reports that Apple's iPad announcement would be delayed, but multiple sources (including Apple) have recently confirmed that Apple will in fact hold an event next Wednesday.

Not much information has been leaked about the approaching Apple event besides specs for the next version of the iPad. Apple might update iOS as well, but there is no hard evidence to support that claim.

A Leave of Absence Doesn’t Mean It’s a Vacation for Mr. Jobs

It's hard to believe, but it was almost a month ago when Steve Jobs announced he was taking a leave of absence from Apple due to undisclosed medical issues.

What has he been doing? Does this spell doom for the next iPad and iPhone release dates?

These were some of questions that everyone was anxious to know; exactly how would Steve's leave impact Apple's ability to maintain their status quo?

Well if a recent Wall Street Journal report is anything to go by, the impact has been minimal, if any. That's because throughout his leave, Steve Jobs has been maintaining his storied work ethic...

The App Store Gets An Official Twitter Account

Who says Apple doesn't like Twitter? The hilarious @CEOSteveJobs Twitter account was recently approached by Twitter (on Apple's behalf ) and asked to make clear that the account was parody and not reflective of Apple Inc. While Apple had a bad impression of Twitter in that case, the company still understands the value in the "tweet."

Apple has a few official Twitter accounts in existence. The @AppStore is the newest addition. The App Store welcomed itself into the Twittersphere with the tweet, "Welcome to App Store on Twitter! Follow us to discover new apps, get exclusive offers, and share with friends. #appstore"

Apple will use @AppStore for featured apps, promotions, and hopefully some interesting App Store facts and statistics...

Apple Posts Record First Quarter Results, Sells 16.24 Million iPhones

Hot off the news of Steve Job's 2nd medical leave in as many years, Apple has released its first quarter results, and unsurprisingly, the numbers are quite gaudy.

“We had a phenomenal holiday quarter with record Mac, iPhone and iPad sales,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We are firing on all cylinders and we’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline for this year including iPhone 4 on Verizon which customers can’t wait to get their hands on.”

At 16.24 million sold, the iPhone's numbers represent an 86% growth over the same period last year. The numbers for Apple's other products, were just as impressive...

Steve Jobs Takes a Medical Leave of Absence from Apple

Big news coming out of Cupertino today, Steve Jobs has requested, and has been granted a medical leave of absence. Apple's website posted an email that Steve sent out to all Apple employees earlier today. His reasons stated for taking the leave is so that he can "focus on [his] health."

As you may remember, it wasn't too long ago that Steve took a similar leave when he experienced health issues related to his liver, that being almost two years ago to the day...

Rumor: Apple Will Remove the Home Button in the Next Version of the iPhone

A new, unexpected report from Boy Genius is claiming that the next version of the iPhone and iPad will have no home button. That's right, a device with hardly any physical buttons will lose its only major one. This rumor doesn't seem unlike Apple, we are talking about a company who took all of the buttons off the iPod Nano at one point.

It seems that the reason multitouch gestures were added to the iPad in iOS 4.3 is because Apple plans to implement such gestures for all iDevices. These multi-finger gestures would most likely replace the current functionality of the home button. Boy Genius Report reveals the following...

I Made More Money Than Steve Jobs Last Year

Yes, I made more money than Steve Jobs in 2010. Can you believe that? Chances are, if you worked for a minute or so in 2010, you too made more money than Apple's CEO. That's because Steve-o took a symbolic one-dollar salary for the year that ended.

This being said, don't feel bad for Mr Jobs because the total value of his Apple shares is worth over 1.8 billion dollars. Not bad, huh?

Sophone is the Best iPhone 4 Knockoff of 2010

There are plenty of fake iPhone knockoffs, like the HiPhone 4G. Apple has sued many manufacturers around the world for clearly cloning the iPhone or stealing some of its key features.

China has always been the largest hub of fake, knockoff gadgets. If you visit China, chances are you will find all the recent models of mobile phones cloned and selling at less than half their original prices. Because the iPhone's appeal is at a global level, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Apple to crack down on all of these little companies overseas that are creating knockoff iPhone models.

The Sophone is by far the best iPhone 4 knockoff of 2010. It didn't receive American coverage until late December, but the device has been a huge hit in China. It copies the iPhone 4 in almost every way imaginable. The way that the Sophone identically mirrors the iPhone 4 is unbelievable. You really have to see it to believe it...
