BBC launches iPlayer Radio streaming app

BBC has previously made available its fine (I'd dare say, the finest) television programming, documentaries and news channels on the iPhone and today the London, United Kingdom-headquartered public service broadcasting corporation revealed a new radio streaming app.

The BBC iPlayer Radio app allows you to stream live shows and download already-broadcast shows. It sports a nice dial interface akin to Apple's Podcast app, letting one quickly scan available shows and enjoy BBC's radio programmes on the go, even if it's limited only to UK residents (there's a way to bypass that)...

Sega announces it’s bringing Crazy Taxi to iOS

In a blog post yesterday, Sega announced that it was going to be bringing its popular Crazy Taxi game to iOS this month. The title, which was the first in the Crazy Taxi series, started out as an arcade game, and has since been ported to several different consoles.

In addition to the announcement, Sega also posted an [extremely] brief trailer that shows gameplay footage from the upcoming iOS version, along with the message "Relive the madness on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. October 2012." Video teaser after the break...

Rovio to release Angry Birds Star Wars on November 8

Forgive Rovio for milking the Angry Birds franchise for all its worth, but if it hadn't been for the original Angry Birds game no one would have heard of a small Finnish game developer that was struggling to make a living making games you never heard about. Hot on the heels of releasing Bad Piggies and Angry Birds Space, Rovio has just announced a broad partnership with Hasbro, a toy and board game company.

The mash-up will see Rovio release a range of Star Wars and Angry Birds figurines, costumes, plush toys and a brand new Angry Birds game set in the Star Wars universe. More information and a teaser trailer follow right after the break...

New app from Google hitting iOS soon: Field Trip

So much about distancing from Apple. Google just recently launched very nice YouTube client and Chrome browser for iOS, it's said to be working on a standalone Maps app and now introduced a new software that runs in the background analyzing your environment to give you facts about the places around you.

It pops up a nice card when you get close to something interesting and will even read the info to you if you have a headset or Bluetooth connected. Best thing you check it out in a video I've included right below...

Rovio’s Bad Piggies hit iOS, Mac and Android

As promised, Angry Birds maker Rovio today released a new physics-based game that turns the famous formula upside down in that it focuses on the green piggies who must protect the eggs grabbed from the birds. After a string of content updates and sequels, some feel the Angry Birds series has run its course.

Rovio is clearly banking on the success of Angry Birds here, but Bad Piggies is anything but yet another Angry Birds sequel. Gameplay footage and more info right below...

Streamweaver lets you jointly record multi-angle video with friends

If you are a fan of iPhone photography (and perhaps are following our iPhoneography series), you're gonna love this little gem. Streamweaver is a new multi-angle video app with a novel approach to mobile video recording. First, invite a bunch of friends to use the app. Then, each one of you gets to record the same scene from a different angle.

Finally, the program combines your uploaded video streams and plays them back in a single split-screen video that shows all the angles together. It's simple, clean, straightforward and works as advertised. Best of all, Streamweaver is provided free of charge...

AT&T awards young girl $20,000 for creating anti-texting while driving app

We all know these days that sending text messages while driving is a pretty bad idea. Raising awareness of the risks is always a worthwhile exercise though, and doing just that is what has earned one 11-year old girl a cool $20,000.

As part of a hackathon last month, the young lady created a concept mobile app that hopes to raise awareness for the "It Can Wait" campaign. This led AT&T to award the prize of $20k for the creation.

Native YouTube app now available in the App Store

Remember back in August when it was discovered that the stock YouTube app was not going to be included in iOS 6? Apple said that its license to include the app in iOS had ended, and Google was working on a standalone app to replace it.

Amazon releases new Local deals app for iOS

New game lets you fight presidential candidates Infinity Blade-style

We're in the middle of an election year here in the US, and come November, we will have a new President. But until then, we will be forced to endure countless hours of debates, political TV ads and who knows what else.

Luckily, the folks over at Chair — the team behind the popular Infinity Blade franchise — just released a game to help us cope with all of the stress of the election. It's called VOTE!!!, and it's actually pretty fun...
