You must watch this live action television commercial for Electronic Arts' Need for Speed: Most Wanted, an open-world racing game - it will totally make your day. The racing sessions have you fighting the cops and the trailer depicts that.

I instantly fell in love with the spaghetti western type soundtrack. And don't you just love how they pixelated the finger the driver gave to the cops? Thank actor/writer/director Jon Favreau for that, he's behind the ad.

Developed by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts, Need for Speed: Most Wanted files as the nineteenth title in the long-running series, picking up on the Most Wanted IP rather than the Hot Pursuit reboot that Criterion developed previously...

New Angry Birds Star Wars trailer features Princess Leia

Rovio's so far teased Angry Birds Star Wars twice (here and here). This brand new mashup resulting from a partnership with toy maker Hasbro could be a smash hit, if previous Angry Birds games are anything to go by. Today, the Finnish developer behind the franchise released a new trailer that features Princess Leia and the pig-ified Storm Trooper helmet, have a look.

I'm a big fan of both the Angry Birds series and Star Wars. It goes without saying that I cannot wait to see what Rovio's been up to with this one. The game arrives November 8 to iOS and Android, in addition to versions for Windows Phone, Kindle Fire, Mac and PCs running Windows 8. Say what you will, but Rovio sure knows how to milk the franchise, but not at the expense of gameplay creativity...

Sega launches its first iOS exclusive, Sonic Jump

Sega, a console maker turned games developer, is pretty active on the iOS platform. It's been churning out various episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and recently launched its popular Crazy Taxi game on the iPhone. Today, Sega released a brand new iOS game set in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Called Sonic Jump, it's Sega's first iOS-only game.

As the name suggests, Sonic Jump has your charming hedgehog character jumping up the platforms, collecting coins, avoiding enemies, squaring off against Dr. Eggman and a whole bunch more. It should be instantly familiar to anyone who has played platform jumpers like Doodle Jump. Fans of Sega games will no doubt feel right at home.

Sonic Jump runs natively on both the iPhone and iPad and is provided as a universal binary setting you back two bucks. A few screenies, more info and a trailer can be found past the fold...

Good news: Tweetbot for Mac is out. Bad news: it costs $20

TapBots' beloved Twitter client Tweetbot has finally arrived for the Mac, following an extensive period of beta testing since July. The bad news is, it will run you a whopping twenty bucks a pop! It's not that developers have become greedy overnight, mind you. As you know, Twitter has capped their user base in a quest to exercise total control of third-party programs.

Twitter is doing so by enforcing token limits upon third-party developers. Tokens determine how many users an app like Tweetbot for Mac can have. As a result, developers get to only sell the app until they use up all the tokens Twitter allocated.

That's the official line. Some people think it's crap, others point the finger of blame at Twitter. You could call it economics, I guess. No matter how you look at it, Tweetbot for Mac - at least to my knowledge - has officially become the priciest Twitter client on the Mac App Store...

Infinity Blade Dungeons delayed until 2013, Epic Games confirms

Epic Games has been one of the most vocal supporters of gaming on Apple's iOS platform. Nobody can accuse the company of not putting its money where its mouth is: they poured millions of dollars so far into big budget releases for the iPhone and iPad. The Infinity Blade series isn't just an elegiac App Store masterpiece (exclusive to the iOS platform), it's Epic's most-profitable game ever.

More than anything, Infinity Blade games really push the iPhone and iPad hardware to its limits. Apple invited Epic developers to show off their impressive-looking work in progress, Infinity Blade Dungeons, during the unveiling of the third-generation iPad in April of this year. Eight months later, we learn that the game has been delayed and won't see light of the day until 2013.

What a bummer. By the way, the game is being developed by a team called Impossible Studios - how ironical is that?

The legendary carnage racing game Carmageddon hits iOS, free today only

Carmageddon, a classic arcade racing game inspired by the 1975 cult classic movie Death Race 2000, won many recognition and awards, earning its notoriety for graphical violence stemming from the carnage concept: the locals stay out on the streets at their peril and you run over or smash into them with your automotive killing machine.

As you could imagine, Carmageddon was banned around the world, which only helped fuel its popularity. I was a little bit taken aback that Apple actually allowed such a title into its puritanic App Store environment (maybe because the concept calls for borderline comedy violence?). Rovio teases Angry Birds Star Wars

Angry Birds Star Wars the game is landing on November 8 for iOS and Android and Rovio just posted a nice-looking new trailer to promote the software. It doesn't reveal much in way of details, but sure as hell appeals to fans of Star Wars.

And as part of its broader partnership with toy and board game company Hasbro, Rovio and Hasbro pledged to release Star Wars and Angry Birds-themed merchandise and various mashups, including board games, costumes, plush toys and much more...

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour trailer shows off unbelievable mobile graphics

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is coming this fall on iOS and Android and Gameloft today posted this second trailer to highlight the visual aspects of this awesome-looking first-person shooter. This follows a gameplay trailer released on September 25. The high-definition graphics promises to really shine on the iPhone 5, giving us some indication what its speedy in-house designed A6 chip with three GPU cores is capable of, at least until Infinity Blade Dungeons lands. Sega’s Crazy Taxi now available in the App Store

A few days ago, Sega announced that it would be bringing its popular Crazy Taxi title to the iOS platform. It posted a short video of gameplay footage, and said that its release date would be sometime in October.

Well it looks like "sometime in October" meant "later this week," because Crazy Taxi showed up in the App Store this morning. Now you can play the classic open-world driver on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch...

Bad Piggies cookbook app lands on the iPad

From the apps to the merchandising, Rovio appears to be making money hand over fist. Yesterday, the brains behind the popular Angry Birds physics puzzler series updated their original game with 30 new levels. But it looks something else has been cooking in Rovio's kitchen as today the Finnish developer launched at Frankfurt Book Fair a new app for the iPad.

It's called Bad Piggies’ Best Egg Recipes and you guessed right, it's an e-book, basically an interactive replica of the dead tree version ($9.99 on Amazon) Rovio published last year, which contains 41 egg recipes. We've got a teaser clip and a hands-on video for your right after the break...

Need for Speed Most Wanted: so good you’ll want to break the law

EA Mobile just tweeted their first trailer for the upcoming racing game for the iOS and Android platform, aptly named Need For Speed Most Wanted. Prior Need for Speed games all looked great, always raising the bar when it comes to graphics and gameplay. If this trailer is anything to go by, Need for Speed Most Wanted won't disappoint.

The game features dynamic physics-based collisions for realistic visual damage, cop takedowns, high speed chases and what not. You'll have a chance to drive such cars as the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, the Porsche 911 Carrera S and many more. It's coming on October 30 so stay tuned...

Angry Birds get 30 stormy and pig-themed levels

"The Bad Piggies don’t just have a new game", Finnish developer Rovio writes in release notes for the freshly updated Angry Birds. "Now they’ve taken over Angry Birds with 15 of the piggest levels ever". Angry Birds, the game that started the whole birds vs. piggies craze, was updated on the iPhone and iPod touch with 30 new levels, 15 of which are pig-themed in an obvious mash up with Bad Piggies, Rovio's most recent game release that has turned the familiar flinging formula upside down...
