Rovio Stars’ next release Tiny Thief is coming to iOS next Thursday

Rovio's new publishing label Rovio Stars recently launched its inaugural title, A Viking Voyage by UK-based studio Nitrome. Their second game will be Tiny Thief, a nice-looking medieval adventure developed by Barcelona-based 5 Ants Studio. Just earlier this morning, Rovio announced that Tiny Thief will be available for iOS and Andoid tablets and handhelds from next Thursday, July 11, here's what we know so far about the game...

Track your favorite TV shows with the elegant TeeVee 2 app

As I tend to repeatedly mention here, I'm a big fan of movies and television shows (wanted to be an actor when I was a kid). Now, most of my premium entertainment is consumed digitally these days so I'm big on apps that help me manage and discover great TV shows and movies.

For the latter, I use Limelight which lets me organize and manage my movie library in style.

I'm also a heavy user of ToDo Movies to track upcoming releases and its eye-popping Motion Posters feature has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. You could imagine my excitement discovering TeeVee 2, an elegant and sophisticated iPhone application by Tomas Perzl which helps me keep track of next episodes of my favorite TV shows, when they are airing, the days remaining, the episode title/synopsis and lots more...

New assistant app ‘Donna’ promises you’ll never be late again

Watch out Siri, there's a new digital assistant on iOS and she is causing quite a bit of commotion. Her name is Donna, and she is billed as a virtual secretary that helps you manage your day with smart notifications, an anticipatory calendar, and in-app directions.

The app is the product of the San Francisco-based Incredible Labs, who is backed by a laundry list of high-profile investors including Ashton Kutcher. And the developers say they named it after Donna Moss, the popular assistant from the TV show 'The West Wing.'

Microsoft releases SkyDrive Pro iOS app for Office 365 subscribers

Windows maker Microsoft today released a new iOS app focused on its SkyDrive storage, which is deeply integrated throughout its Windows 8 and Windows Phone offerings. Although the company already has a nice SkyDrive app on the App Store which gives you quick access to  25GB of free cloud storage in the Microsoft cloud for your personal files, this one's different in that it requires SharePoint or Office365 credentials and is meant for businesses subscribed to Office 365 ...

AOL releases brand new iPad app for mail, weather, news and video

It's not just Yahoo: in a bid to regain its relevancy, AOL is doubling down on software. First, it jumped on the Google Reader bandwagon with its own AOL Reader.

But AOL is just warming up: today, the beleaguered firm has launched an iOS app that lets you access its popular properties like News, Weather, Video and Mail. If  I wanted to be cynical, I'd say AOL has been lingering on the brink of relevancy for quite some time now.

The firm's customer base had been reduced to 10.1 million subscribers by November 2007, just narrowly ahead of Comcast and AT&T Yahoo. If you count yourself as an AOL fan, go past the fold for the full breakdown...

Remastered PlayStation classic Colin McRae Rally is now available on iOS

Avid iOS gamers may have noticed a promising pattern as a growing number of premium classics make their way into the App Store. Starting with XCOM: Enemy Unknown just a week ago and the upcoming iOS port of the award-winning Limbo game, we now also have the 1999 PlayStation racing classic Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (the second game in the series), which has been remastered for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices as simply Colin McRae Rally...

Contra: Evolution now available in the App Store

Gamers looking to drum up a bit of nostalgia this evening will be happy to hear that the official Contra game is now available in the App Store. The title actually first surfaced in the US App Store at the end of last month, but it was mysteriously and promptly pulled.

Apparently that May release was unintentional, as Konami and Punchbox Studios still had some finishing touches to put on the game. But it's back in the App Store today, for good this time, meaning you can now grab Contra: Evolution for both your iPhone and your iPad...

Plants vs. Zombies 2 to be delayed until ‘later in the summer’

Bad news this afternoon for Plants vs. Zombies fans. Electronic Arts has announced today that the highly anticipated sequel to PopCap's popular lane defense game will not launch next month as it had originally anticipated.

A few weeks ago, PopCap announced that the game, officially titled 'Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time,' would be released on July 18. But it appears EA—its parent company—thinks it needs more time to fine tune things...

Popular Limbo game hitting App Store next week

Developed by Danish team Playdead, Limbo, the popular puzzle action adventure, became a smash hit shortly following its Xbox Live launch in 2010. Soon after, the game was ported to Windows and Mac PCs and Sony's PlayStation 3 console, winning numerous accolades and garnering over a hundred awards.

I've been looking forward to playing Limbo on my iPhone for ages so you can imagine me surprised realizing my prayers have now been answered because Playdead just announced that Limbo will land on the App Store as early as next week. Couldn't be happier!

Imgur coming to iOS soon, hits Android

When Alan Schaaf’s free image sharing service dubbed Imgur went online on February 23, 2009, it was met with genuinely positive feedback from users who'd been longing for an image hosting service that didn't suck.

Though no one expected the San Francisco-based startup to compete with the likes of Flickr, Instagram or other established photo sharing services, it did start picking up considerable steam after users on Reddit and Digg began sharing viral images on Imgur. In response to its rising popularity, the startup has just issued the official Android client and confirmed that iOS version is coming along soon...

Finnish Angry Birds maker Rovio back in May announced its new publishing label dubbed Rovio Stars that focuses on “the best new games from talented and innovative developers” and files as Rovio’s first foray into including third party titles in its game line-up.

Thursday, Rovio Stars released its inaugural iOS game on the App Store, Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage from UK-based studio Nitrome. The game combines dynamic ice-slicing mechanics with an offbeat sense of humor. More details right after the jump...
