Apple announces 25 billion iTunes songs sold

Just in time for Valentine's Day $0.69 love music sale, Apple this morning issued a press release announcing that music lovers have downloaded more than 25 billion songs from the iTunes Store. The company's song sales now average to 15,000 tracks downloaded per minute. The iTunes Store opened for business on April 28, 2003 and its catalog is now over 26 million songs strong. Remember that it was only back in September 2012 that Apple announced 20 billion iTunes song purchases.

With the recent addition of 56 new markets, music on iTunes is now available for sale in 119 countries. And with the recent Apple TV 5.2 software update, owners of Apple's $99 set-top box can now see upcoming songs when playing music, choose what plays next and access their previously purchased songs from iCloud, right on their television set...

Hidden radio buttons discovered in iPad Music app

HypedMusic: listen to millions of tracks for free

Rdio, Pandora and Spotify are all nice options to stream unlimited music rather than buy individual tracks (so last century). But these services cost north of ten bucks per month, which amounts to a $100+ annually. With so many music tracks readily available on the Internet for free, in the form of music videos and what not, Luke Li launched the HypedMusic web site in January 2011 as a legally compliant option to enjoy music on your computer free.

Amazon optimizes MP3 Store for iPhone

Listen to your iTunes library in 3D with ‘Music Collocator’

Music Collocator is a jailbreak app recently added to Cydia which plays tracks from your library simultaneously using what the developer calls '3D sound'. In this case, 3D sound means the app plays tracks together, shifting the stereo volume based on where the song is 'located' in 3D.

Since Music Collocator pulls tracks from your iTunes library, you have access to your favorite playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Unfortunately you can't swap individual songs to Music Collocator arrangements à la carte. To get around this limitation, you'll have to set a custom playlist with each track setup you want, and that's not an ideal solution.

Akin to Algoriddim's dj apps, podDJ is basically a DJing software that lets you mix and scratch music tracks from the iTunes library on your iPad tablet.

It has a gorgeous user interface and pod2g claims it will be the snappiest iOS DJing app, thanks to a sound output latency of just five milliseconds, OpenGL refresh rate of 60Hz and literally zero latency cue points and zero latency key locks, resulting in unique touch to sound reactivity...
