New concept imagines iPhone X with Full Vision Display

As part of alleged iPhone 8 technical drawings that were leaked out at the start of this week by iFanr, the publication also commissioned some interesting mockups. The nicely done renderings attempt to envision so-called “Tenth Anniversary iPhone” (aka “iPhone X”) with a seamless edge-to-edge display stretching across almost the entire front face of the device. Without further ado, this is what iPhone X with what iFanr dubbed “Full Vision Display” could look like.

Apple suppliers prepping to stockpile A11 chips for upcoming iPhones

Quarterly chip demand for iPhone is predicted to surpass 50 million units in the second half of this year as Apple begins to stockpile next-generation processors and other chips for 2017 iPhones, trade publication DigiTimes said Wednesday. Chip orders should hit a total of between 220 million and 230 million units between the end of the second quarter and the beginning of the third. This implies strong projected demand for the OLED-based iPhone 8 and the iterative LCD-based iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus updates.

Apple is testing at least ten different iPhone prototypes and Bloomberg said yesterday that one of the designs being considered features an aluminum back rather than a glass one, and slightly larger dimensions. Today, Australian leakster Sonny Dickson tweeted out an image of what appears to be a technical drawing for an aluminum iPhone 8 prototype (could it instead be an iPhone 7s prototype?) that shows vertically aligned dual cameras and a fingerprint sensor on the backside.

CoolBooter dual-boot utility updated to 1.0b6

CoolBooter, the dual-boot utility for legacy jailbroken iOS devices, saw an update yesterday, as did its CLI version.

The frontend is now at version 1.0 beta 6, whilst the command line interface, which must be run from a Terminal application, reaches version 0.3.

CCDataMore adds a cellular data toggle to Control Center

Apple really doesn’t make it easy to toggle cellular data on or off apart from using Airplane Mode. Your only other option is to dig through your Settings app to find the cellular data preference pane, which is intrusive when you're already in another app or doing something else.

Fortunately, a new free jailbreak tweak called CCDataMore by iOS developer Lizynz solves this problem by enabling a cellular data toggle in Control Center.

Analyst says 2017 iPhones will still ship with Lightning to 3.5mm adapter

New iPhones will continue to ship with a Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter in the box, according to Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis and his associates in a research note distributed today, obtained by MacRumors. The research note contradicts an earlier report claiming Apple would no longer bundle the adapter with a trio of new iPhones in 2017.

New iMac to target Microsoft Surface Studio with server-grade Xeon chips, discreet graphics & more

We know Apple is working on pro-level iMacs slated for release this year and one source has already described some of the features allegedly found on higher-end models, including faster Intel Xeon chips, ECC RAM and more. Citing sources from supply chain makers, Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes said Tuesday that Apple is testing a new server-grade iMac model aimed at high-end users that will take on Microsoft's recently released Surface Studio.

AirDrop Remover nixes the AirDrop button from iOS Share Sheets

AirDrop is a very convenient way to send and receive files between iOS devices and Macs; on the other hand, not everyone uses it. While you can easily disable AirDrop, the feature still clutters your interfaces whether it's disabled or not.

Those with a jailbreak can hide AirDrop from their device entirely, and a new free jailbreak tweak called AirDrop Disabler by Justin Petkovic aides in this process by removing AirDrop from your Share Sheets.

StatusPeek 2 replaces the Notification Center grabber with the Status Bar

When you drag down from the top of the screen (intentionally or unintentionally) inside of full-screen apps, a grabber that lets you open Notification Center presents itself. While it works fine for what it was made for, many would agree that it’s useless beyond opening Notification Center.

That’s where a jailbreak tweak called StatusPeek 2 by Noeliel can come in handy and improve things for the better. It replaces the usual grabber with a sneak peek of your Status Bar while maintaining the function of a grabber.

Don’t Stop the Party! keeps your music playing during resprings

One of my pet peeves in terms of having a jailbroken device is how any music I'm listening to while installing tweaks on my device gets silenced with every respring. Anyone who peruses Cydia and installs tweaks a lot will find this to be a buzzkill.

Fortunately, a new jailbreak tweak called Don’t Stop the Party! by iOS developers David Goldman and Wizages helps fix the problem once and for all by letting the music play straight through the respring process.

A photo that was posted to Chinese social network Weibo by an unknown user appears to depict an engineering design drawing of Apple's rumored 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, tentatively named “iPhone 8” (or “iPhone X”, “Tenth Anniversary iPhone” or simply “iPhone Edition”).

The leaked technical schematic depicts a device as thin as iPhone 7 with very slim bezels on the left and right sides of the screen, significantly smaller top and bottom bezels, a fingerprint sensor relocated to the backside, a vertically aligned dual-camera system and more.
