Every week, iDownloadBlog shows you a selection of app picks that we think are interesting. While we tend to choose apps from the App Store, we occasionally throw in a web or jailbreak app as well. This week, we've got three awesome App Store apps for you to check out. We hope you enjoy this week's picks!

How to Create Your Own Cydia Repo on the iPhone

In the jailbreak store known as Cydia, apps and tweaks are distributed by means of independent repositories. These 'repos' serve as distribution channels for offering Cydia packages to customers from different companies and developers.

While larger repos, like BigBoss, index hundreds and hundreds of Cydia packages for users to install, many smaller repos can tend to clutter up the Cydia experience. If you're interested in creating an independent repo of your favorite tweaks, or hosting your own packages in Cydia, there's an easy way to create your very own Cydia repo right on your iPhone...

Friday13: Customize Your Calendar App Icon

It has nothing to do with the movie.

Now that that's out of the way, let me tell you about Friday13, a recently released jailbreak tweak for the iPhone.

Friday13 is a way to alter the iCal icon on your iPhone's Home screen, nothing more, nothing less. You'll find various color combinations, custom date listings, etc.

If you're growing weary of that boring old red and white iCal icon on your Home screen, then the following video walkthrough is catered towards you...

HiddenCalllog: Keep Prying Eyes Out of Your Call History

Want to keep nosey people out of your call history? Then this simple, yet effective jailbreak tweak entitled HiddenCalllog, might be just what the doctor ordered.

BackForwardList for Safari: Browser History, Evolved

As most of you guys and gals are well aware of, I'm the type of person that loves keeping things stock, or at least stock looking.

My car is stock, my iMac is stock, my iOS devices are jailbroken, but they look close to stock.

For that reason, it's probably no surprise that I continue to use the built in Safari browser for all of my web needs, despite the fact that it's severely lacking when compared to third party options.

That's where handy tweaks like BackForwardList for Safari come in. It allows me to keep the stock browser, while giving it a nice usability boost. See inside for the video evidence...

Jailbreak Dynamic Duo: PasswordPilot and StayOpened

Two is always better than one, right? Well, in the case of PasswordPilot and StayOpened, two is indeed, most definitely better than one.

StayOpened is the Robin to PasswordPilot's Batman. Their mission? To make App Store purchases easier!

Inside, I'll show you why you should consider this Lebron James + Dwyane Wade type of combo to conquer what ails you about the App Store...

LaunchConfirm: Stop Accidentally Launching Apps

It's no secret that many of the tweaks found on Cydia are close replicas of already existing tweaks; LaunchConfirm is no exception.

Heavily borrowing from another recently released jailbreak tweak by the name of DoubleTapToOpen, LaunchConfirm aims to accomplish similar results, albeit using a slightly different method.

Both tweaks aim to prevent the end user from accidentally launching apps. DoubleTapToOpen requires a double tap to launch apps, while LaunchConfirm adopts a confirmation dialogue box in order to do so.

In the end, both tweaks are very similar, as you'll see in this full video walkthrough...

iPhone Smart Cover Concept Video [Updated]

So I was messing around with Ryan Petrich's VoiceKeys tweak a while ago, and stumbled upon a revelation: The tweak's proximity sensor feature, coupled with my BookBook case makes for an almost iPad 2 imitating Smart Cover feature for the iPhone.

In a nutshell, I decided it would only be right to record the functionality that I inadvertently stumbled upon, with the hopes of coercing someone in the jailbreak community to take this project head on.

What we need, is jailbreak tweak that allows one to activate the proximity sensor anywhere, in any app, not just in the Phone app (or in this case, the Messages app). Check inside for a video demonstration of the iPhone Smart Cover concept in action, along with a call to arms to any jailbreak developer who wishes to take this project on...

VoiceKeys: Speech-to-Text on Your iPhone

VoiceKeys is a brand new jailbreak tweak from Ryan Petrich, that attempts to bring easy to use speech-to-text to the iPhone.

In order to make the tweak as seamlessly integrated as possible, Ryan opted to use the already popular Action Menu as a means to invoke the speech recognition properties.

The result thus far has been sort of a mixed bag, but keep in mind that this is only version 1.0 of the tweak. Check inside for a video demonstration of VoiceKeys in action...

DashBoard for Maps Brings Heads-up Display to the Maps App

Over the last few weeks, we've seen an increase in interest from jailbreak developers regarding the iOS Maps application. We've seen Speed for Maps, which adds a speedometer to the Maps app, and a Compass tweak that does the same thing.

Now there's is a utility available that will not only tell you how fast you are going and where you're headed, but also display your elevation. It's called DashBoard for Maps, and it just went live in Cydia...
