iPad keynote now available on YouTube and iTunes

Apple rather uncharacteristically not only live-streamed yesterday's keynote through its website and on Apple TV, iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices, but has also made a replay available shortly thereafter. The October 2013 Apple Special Event video is now available on-demand through the Apple Events section of the company's website.

I typically prefer to keep Apple's keynote clips handy for later reference and offline viewing. As a bonus, I get to keep the videos forever and make as much copies as my heart desires. Right on cue, the iPhone maker has now made the entire iPad keynote available as a downloadable video podcast on iTunes...

iTunes 11.1.2 is out with support for Mavericks and performance improvements

In addition to its wide range of other application updates today, Apple has posted a new edition of iTunes this afternoon. The update brings the content management software to version 11.1.2 and includes a handful of improvements.

Easily the biggest change in iTunes 11.1.2 is its support for OS X Mavericks, the big update Apple released today for its desktop operating system. But it also includes new language support and improved performance and stability...

Pandora: we do streaming radio better than anyone – including Apple

When iTunes Radio was only a rumor, the idea of Apple offering streaming music was instantly dubbed a Pandora-killer. Now that iTunes Radio has launched alongside iOS 7 last month, Pandora's finance chief is speaking out, saying their service outperforms even a giant-killer, no matter how fat the bank account.

In an interview, Pandora CFO Mike Herring describes Apple's service as a "credible" threat, but the Internet radio startup continues to feel it still is "better than anybody else"...

Apple serves blog with takedown notice over posting iTunes Radio contract

Most of Apple's legal actions happen with other multi-billion tech firms. But sometime, the Cupertino, California company likes to scare to scare the pants off small fry. Take for example Digital Music News (DMN), which Sunday yielded to demands by Apple, removing a copy of an iTunes Radio contract.

The contract, first published by DMN in June, showed how Apple "forced sub-standard terms" on independent music publishers. Apple claimed publication of the contract violated copyright laws, a claim one law professor described as "a jerk move."

Apple crediting eligible users who bought iWork, iLife apps after Sept. 1

During its big iPhone event back in September, Apple announced that anyone who purchased a new iOS device after September 1 would be able to download iPhoto, iMovie, and the iWork suite of apps—Keynote, Pages, Numbers—for free.

Making good on its promise, Apple began sending out emails with iTunes credits earlier today to those who purchased both new iOS devices and one or more of the above-mentioned iOS apps prior to the announcement on September 10...

Missing Doctor Who episodes found and digitally remastered, available exclusively on iTunes

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced on Friday that nine long-missing episodes of Doctor Who have been discovered. All of the episodes date back to the Patrick Troughton years and include two stories from the Second Doctor’s era – The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear.

Nearly five decades after they were last seen, these episodes have been digitally remastered and made available for rent exclusively through iTunes...

Bloomberg: iTunes Radio heading to UK, Canada and more in early 2014

Bloomberg is reporting this evening that it has learned Apple is working to rollout iTunes Radio to the UK, Canada and other countries by early 2014. The music service, which launched last month, is currently only available in the US.

Citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter, the outlet says that Apple has acquired the necessary licenses from labels to take its service international next year—likely beating Pandora and other competitors to several countries...

Job listing suggests iTunes Radio is headed to Canada soon

Folks in Canada will be happy to hear that iTunes Radio may soon be landing in the country. A new job listing on Apple's website calls for a 'iTunes Canada Music Programmer,' who will be responsible for rolling out the music service.

Apple launched iTunes Radio last month alongside the redesigned iOS 7, and thus far it's only been available in the US. But if this job listing is any indication, the company could soon be rolling out the music service to more countries...

Activation Error: how running an old iOS 7 beta version will get you in trouble

This is a typical illustration of why only developers should install a beta version of a software. In this case, I'm specifically talking about iOS 7 beta, which has been wildly popular among non developers since Apple first made it available in June.

Of course, we've tried to warn everyone that unless you're a developer, you shouldn't really mess with iOS 7 beta. Since yesterday, those that didn't take this warning seriously might have gotten themselves into trouble.

iOS 7 beta 6 was set to expire on October 6, and people who haven't updated to the GM or public release by then found out the hard way that a developer release should really be only for developers.

Many people were greeted today with a message on their iOS device saying "Activation Error - This device is not registered as part of the iPhone Developer Program," rendering the device unusable. Activation Required...

Apple releases iTunes 11.1.1 with bug fixes, stability improvements

Apple has released a Supplemental Update to OS X 10.8.5. The release fixes an issue with the FaceTime HD camera on late-model MacBook Airs, a bug that caused external drives to be ejected, and other problems.

Additionally, Apple has also seeded a new version of iTunes this afternoon, bringing the app to version 11.1.1. The update doesn't offer up any new features, but it does bring about bug fixes and stability improvements...
