Apple Engineers Contacting iPhone 4S Users About Battery Issues

Sprint: Android Phones Hog More Data Than the iPhone

Sprint CEO Dan Hesse recently made a few interesting comments about the iPhone on his network. Namely, Hesse noted that Android users put more of a strain on Sprint's network than new iPhone owners.

Android apps are "more chatty" with the network, and iPhone apps do a better job of handling data via W-Fi networks and offloading information. Due to the iPhone's light footprint on Sprint's network, the carrier plans to continue offering an unlimited data plan for the indefinite future.

Sprint has revealed that its deal to carry Apple's iPhone will run for four years, costing a whopping $15.5 billion.

Even with all the improvements Apple has made to the iPhone's Mail app in iOS 5, there are still some glaring omissions, especially if you're the kind of person who likes to create folders and have them populated based on a selection of rules.

Smart folders are something that Apple has embraced on the desktop, with Mail on OS X featuring them heavily, which makes it all the more surprising that they haven't brought them to its mobile platforms.

As someone who has been lucky enough to spend the last few months testing iOS 5 in various beta stages, it has to be said that the version we're all currently enjoying has come a long way since the early days.

When Apple released the iOS 5 GM not that long ago, I instantly noticed that my iPhone 4's battery life was lasting roughly half of what it was before. A coincidence, I thought. It'll sort itself out, I presumed. After getting the iPhone 4S, the problem persisted. Twitter and forums on the web over lit up with similar problems, and a few fixes were suggested, mostly to no avail.

There may be light at the end of the tunnel. Switching one little toggle in iOS 5's Settings app may hold the key to curing your iPhone 4S battery...
