Phil Schiller Confirms That White iPhone 4 Will Ship “This Spring”

Could it finally be true? Could the mythical white iPhone 4 really be on the distant horizon for consumers?

According to Apple's VP of Marketing, Phil Schiller, the white iPhone 4 will be available for purchase "this spring." This statement corroborates an earlier comment from Apple's co-founder, Steve Wozniak. Woz also said that the white iPhone would be available for purchase in the near future...

The War Between Verizon and AT&T Gets Petty

It's no secret that Verizon and AT&T are at war. They are constantly battling over the best network, and ultimately the most customers. Even though Verizon has generally had a larger customer base and better call quality, AT&T has generally had faster 3G speeds (depending on location) and of course the iPhone.

That all changed on February 11th of this year, when Verizon launched their version of the iPhone 4. But it seems snagging Apple's popular smart phone wasn't enough for Big Red. They took this wireless war to a tiny little battlefield called predictive text...

iPhone 4 Gets Nearly Double the Battery Life of Some Android Phones

One of the biggest things I'm concerned with on my smart phone is battery life. What good is a wireless phone if it always needs to be plugged in? With some of my older iPhones (iPhone 2G, 3G), it was a major issue. But since I've gotten my iPhone 4, it's never really been a problem.

I've had Android and Blackberries for work phones in the past, and I can honestly say the iPhone 4 is the best when it comes to battery life. Well it looks like my experience are in line with most everybody else's, as cnet test results confirm that the iPhone is top dog...

iPhone 4 Hacked at Pwn2Own

Earlier today we mentioned that the iOS hacker, i0n1c, stated that he was going to wait until iOS 4.3.1 to release his jailbreak. This comes in wake of the events that took place in Canada at this years Pwn2Own contest. Of large interest to hackers and corporations alike, thousands turn out to witness the latest in cyber security fraud.

The name of the game is Pwn2Own, meaning if you are the fastest to hack it, you get it. These devices range from Blackberrys and iPhones, to MacBooks and laptops. Google was even on hand with a $20,000 reward to anyone who could hack their Chrome software. But day 2 was all about the iPhone 4, and was once again exploited by security expert, Charlie Miller...

Dev Team Investigating New Permanent iPhone Unlock Method

Shortly after breaking the bad news about the iPhone 4 carrier unlock for iOS 4.3, iPhone Dev Team member @MuscleNerd announced that they aren't giving up just yet and are currently investigating a new method to unlock the iPhone 4.

This method, called the "NCK", is the key generated by Apple if they were to officially unlock your iPhone. Basically, it's similar to an IMEI unlock code, which permanently unlocks the phone...

Bad News About the iPhone 4 Unlock

If you're one of those people patiently waiting for an unlock for iPhone 4 other than baseband 01.59.00, we've got some bad news for you.

According to a recent tweet from Dev Team frontman MuscleNerd, it is taking longer than expected to get the unlock figured out. With the official release of iOS 4.3 earlier today, the Dev Team most likely encountered new bumps on their road to unlock...

White iPhone 4 Shipping Next Month?

Here we go again! The rare and much anticipated White iPhone 4 is supposedly coming next month.

According to a new report from Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuofrom, Apple will begin production of its White iPhone 4 sometime this month, with the launch taking place sometime in early April...

Here’s What a 64GB iPhone 4 Looks Like on Video

A couple of days ago we reported on a story revolving around a mysterious 64GB iPhone 4 that seemed to have sprung out of nowhere.

Initial reports around the web indicated that the device was being sold on the grey markets in China.

Now a bit of clarification has been added to the mix, as it appears that this iPhone 4 is one of maybe a few prototypes that "leaked" out of Foxconn facilities.

As you can see, the iPhone 4 definitely reeks of being a prototype. Notice that the + and - signs on the volume keys are nowhere to be found.

This device looks eerily similar to the iPhone 4 that Gizmodo acquired last year from a guy that left his prototype iPhone 4 lying helplessly in a bar.

Another point of note is that the silver ring that surrounds the camera lens in production iPhone 4's is missing as well. That too is a feature identical to the iPhone 4 shown off by Gizmodo.

Judging from the similarities, I'm going to go on the limb as call this a pre-production iPhone 4 that just happened to find its way outside of Foxconn's walls. I highly doubt we'll ever see an iPhone 4 with 64GB of storage, but it's definitely possible for the iPhone 5.

The good news is that Apple is indeed testing such storage capabilities, so at least they are contemplating it.

What do you think?

iPhone 5 to Have Aluminum Back and New Antenna Design?

Apple originally used a plastic back for the iPhone, then they switched to a glass backing for the iPhone 4. The glass back coupled with the antenna issues in the iPhone 4 did not bear well for the device, and it appears that Apple is considering using an aluminum back for the iPhone 5.

A report from the Taiwanese Economic Daily News claims that Apple is abandoning the glass backing from the iPhone 5 in favor of a stronger aluminum covering. The source also suggests that Apple's new antenna will be inside the device's rear Apple logo...

Don’t Hold Your iPhone Too Close to Your Head, Apple Says So

I'm sure we have all, at some point, heard about the possible dangers of extensive cell phone use. But if you're like me, you have continuously brushed off the claims, with an I'll-believe-it-when-I-see-it mentality. Well, maybe it's time we paid attention.

In your iPhone 4 booklet, about 5 pages in, is a warning about Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy. Well, it's just your standard legal disclaimer in case a freak accident happens, right? Wrong. If you continue to read on, the user manual actually requests you hold your iPhone 5/8 inch away from your body...

Verizon iPhone gets Carrier Update via Apple

Attention Verizon Wireless iPhone users: welcome to iOS! TiPb Forums are buzzing with iPhone users, on the big red network, finding a carrier update in their settings app. There doesn't seem to be any information available on the reason behind the update, but users are reporting it to be quick and painless.

To me that's typical Apple. Well not always quick (depending on your connection), but compared to some of the nightmare stories you hear about OTA software updates for Google's Android OS, definitely painless...

Apple Looking to Improve Voice Control Options in Their iOS

Voice commands, and even more specifically voice to text, has been a feature that Apple has kind of ignored up to this point on its iOS devices. It's also a feature that has certainly been a big hit with Google, and their Android customers. Sure Apple has given us Voice Control and the App Store may have several voice to text applications for the iPhone, but it would be so much better if it was built into the OS.

Well it looks like Apple might be after just that.  AppleInsider has discovered multiple job postings over at Apple.com that hint at some plans to give their ever popular iOS some major upgrades. The one in particular that stands out is the iOS Speech Operations Engineer posting, as current voice command options in iOS are lacking...
