Instagram users hacked by smoothie spammer [update]

If you've been having trouble logging into your Instagram account this morning, or have noticed any strange photos posted to your stream, you're not alone. Several users are reporting that they've been hacked on the popular photo sharing network.

Reports first started surfacing about the issue on Twitter around 11PM last night, according to a report by The Verge. Users who suffered attacks complained that unauthorized photos along with strange URLs had been posted to their accounts...

Google+ Local app shutting down next month following Google Maps integration

Google+ Local for iOS, the reincarnation of Google Places, will be pulled from the App Store on August 7th, according to an email from the Mountain View company. The move comes just over one year after the app first launched for iPhones and iPads.

Yahoo updates Fantasy Football app with new UI and mobile drafting

Yahoo has posted a major update today to its popular iOS Fantasy Football client, bringing the app to version 5.0. The update features a slew of new features and improvements to get you ready for the start of the 2013 NFL season.

Popular voice and messaging service Viber has been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army, reports The Hacker News. The group has a history of hacking the Twitter accounts of the Associated Press, The Guardian, and other news sources.

Proof of today's attack came in the form of a warning message on Viber's support website (which has since been). The SEA claims that the messaging platform is spying and tracking its users, and it posted a screenshot of alleged evidence...

Path updated with new Friend Progress Bar, store items and more

Path users will be happy to hear that the social network has seeded an update to its iOS client today. The update, which brings the app to version 3.1.1, includes a handful of new features, as well as various improvements and bug fixes.

One of the more noticeable changes in 3.1.1 is the updated Friend Progress Bar. Path introduced the feature, which helps users better track their friends' stories, in the last update. And now, those that found it annoying can easily remove it...

Gameloft and Marvel announced the official tie-in game for the upcoming Thor sequel this weekend. It's called 'Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game' (that's it's real name), and it will be arriving on iOS and Android platforms this November.

Apple Store app to be redesigned with free iTunes content in iPhone sales push

Apple will release a new version of its Apple Store application for the iPhone and iPod touch next week, according to a new report. The update will include a redesigned interface and a handful of new features, including free downloadable iTunes content.

The move is said to be part of Tim Cook's goal to sell more iPhones direct from Apple's direct sales channels. Apparently, the plan is to get the app installed on as many device's as possible so that more people are exposed to the company's choice products...
