Cut the Rope creators release a challenging platformer, King of Thieves

ZeptoLab, a Russian entertainment and gaming company best known for developing the Cut the Rope mobile franchise, today released its latest iOS game in the App Store, King of Thieves.

King of Thieves is a challenging platformer with elements of asynchronous player-vs-player multiplayer games in which you must steal other player's gold and gems undetected.

Game mechanics involve lots of leaping off walls, jumping, avoiding obstacles and what not. King of Thieves also incorporates some elements of tower defense games so give it a whirl if you're a fan of the genre.

Nutshell for iPhone lets you create beautiful cinematic stories from your photos in an instant

Nutshell Camera from the team at Prezi should probably be the latest addition to your iPhone photography arsenal.

Available free in the App Store, it's really easy to use. Just pick three photos from your Camera roll, add some fun captions and graphics and let Nutshell do its magic. The app will map your photos to video, creating an instantly shareable cinematic story.

Your visual vignettes can be shared with the web at large by posting them to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or sent to via SMS, email, WhatsApp and more.

IGN names EA’s ‘Mass Effect: Infiltrator’ its Free Game of the Month

Heads up gamers, IGN has just named EA's "Mass Effect: Infiltrator" its Free Game of the Month for February. The title has a rating of 4 out of 5 stores in the App Store, on thousands of reviews, and it typically retails for $4.99.

In Infiltrator, you play as veteran Cerberus agent Randall Ezno who works at a secret facility that conducts illicit experiments on alien beings. But when those experiments go too far, Randall vows to bring the whole project down. 

Kindle update brings eTextbooks and Book Browser to iPhone, and more

Amazon's free Kindle for iOS app has received a refresh this morning. Bumped to version 4.7, it lets students access Kindle eTextbooks from their iPhone and filter their notes by chapter for easy studying, thanks to an enhanced Notebook feature.

Book Browser, another new feature created with iPhone owners in mind, lets you tap on a book cover to reveal additional information like the book description and customer reviews.

Flipboard is now available in a web browser

Flipboard, a social-network aggregation news app delivered in a magazine-like format, today launched a web app that runs in any standards-compliant desktop web browser like Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome.

Available at flipboard.com, it lets you sign in with your Flipboard account and browse your Cover Stories, catch up on anything you're interested in and collect and share articles with friends, all inside your favorite desktop browser and without installing anything.

Infuse 3.2 rolls out with Google Cast support, direct web streaming and more

Infuse, a versatile media player for the iPhone and iPad by jailbreak developer FireCore (the brains behind the aTV Flash Black software), has been infused this morning with more than a dozen new features, improvements and enhancements.

Among other items, Infuse 3.2 can stream/download video from direct web URLs and has beta support for Google Cast, the search giant's version of AirPlay.

The freemium app is available at no cost in the App Store, with advanced features locked behind a Pro upgrade via the In-App Purchase mechanism.

Skype for iPhone introduces new chat picker, brings back URI support and more

Microsoft today released an update to Skype for iPhone in the App Store. In addition to general improvements, Skype 5.10 for iPhone lets you quickly call people and groups straight from a new chat picker: just tap on a new chat icon and choose who to talk to.

The update enhances Skype's dialer with a useful auto-complete feature that searches for Skype contacts as you’re entering a phone number.

Most importantly, the new version brings Skype URI support back to iPhones so third-party developers can again write apps that integrate with Skype.

SwiftKey gains iPad gesture typing, 800+ predictive emojis, key click sounds and more

SwiftKey, the popular third-party keyboard for the iPhone and iPad, has received a nice refresh today. The new version brings out support for eleven more languages, enables gesture typing on iPads, implements a new picker which provides access to more than 800 emoticons along with emoji predictions, adds the option to accompany each tap of a key with a click sound and other goodies.

‘Angry Birds Seasons’ goes free as Apple’s App of the Week

Apple has just named "Angry Birds Seasons" its App of the Week for this week. This means that from now through next Thursday, you’ll be able to download the popular game, which normally retails for $0.99, for free.

The Angry Birds franchise needs no introduction—Rovio's slingshotting fowls have been downloaded over 2 billion times—and this seasonal version has proven to be a fan favorite. The current episode is NBA All-Star.

Reuters TV hits App Store, a personalized TV news reportage in the palm of your hand

If you prefer watching news footage over reading articles, don't pass on a brand new app from Reuters, a global news-gathering organization owned by Thomson Reuters.

Their free Reuters TV for iOS app just went live in the App Store, bringing you personalized video news when you want it, straight from the source and made to fit your day.

Offering both on-demand and live news programming and reportage from over 2,500 journalists in 200 countries, Reuters TV is personalized (swipe to skip the stories that don’t interest you), highly customizable (you can set your preferred show length) and relevant (news is tailored to your location).

WhatsApp gains improved image chooser, new Call button and Dynamic Type support

WhatsApp for iPhone got updated Thursday with three noteworthy improvements. For starters, it now honors your preferred font size set in Settings > General > Accessibility > Larger Text so all text labels throughout the app get rendered in your chosen typeface size.

There's also a new call button in chats. Lastly, a built-in image chooser has been redesigned so you can now quickly add recent images from your Camera Roll right after tapping on the camera icon in chats.
