Google+ App Updated for iPad/iPod Touch

Even though it seems like the new car smell has kind of worn off, Google+ is still seeing tons of traffic. The company took the social networking space by storm last month, and Google+ still consists of 20 million+ members.

It's had a native iPhone app for weeks, but for some reason the software has been blocked from installing on both the iPad and iPod touch. Users had to go through several steps to install the application on their tablets, and half the time it didn't work...

appMobi Lets Developers Code HTML 5 Apps for Submitting to the App Store

Google's Chrome web-based app store received a new entry this week, and believe it or not, it does have a link to the world of iOS.

The newly released appMobi is a web app designed to help developers to code HTML 5 web apps, but it also packs a sucker punch that we didn't see coming. If after writing your HTML 5 app, you decide you'd like to submit it as a native iOS app to Apple's App Store, then appMobi will let you do that, too...

10 Year Old Hacker Shows Off iOS Game Exploit at DefCon

Remember when kids used to sit and play with plastic toys and run around outside? Me neither. It seems that these days, the joys of hacking are too strong a pull for our little ones.

CNET highlights a 10-year old hacker, going by the name of CyFi, who has presented an exploit to the "Kids" section of the popular hacking conference, DefCon. The exploit, which currently works on both iOS and Android, allows certain games to be prematurely advanced by simply altering the device's clock...

iOS 5 Beta 5 Set to Expire on September 14

In a recent tweet by iH8sn0w, he has stated that iOS 5 Beta 5 will expire on September 14, 2011. This means that if you use your iDevice past that date and time, it will lock up, forcing you to restore to the GM or final version of iOS 5 (depending on when the final version is released). If haven't heard already, iOS 5 Beta 5 was released today with some new features.

Every week iDownloadblog brings a roundup of awesome apps for you to check out and enjoy. We try to vary our picks, but a lot of these apps usually come from the App Store. If an interesting web or jailbreak app catches our eye, we’ll include that in our picks as well.

This week, we’ve got three pretty unusual apps from the App Store...

EA’s ‘Back to School’ Sale Offers up to 80% Off

It's back to school time I'm afraid, but there is one every so slight plus to this time of year, and that's sales. We all like sales, don't we?

The guys over at Electronic Arts certainly do, and their EA 'Back to School' sale is underway, with games receiving up to 80% reductions in price.

Huge titles such as FIFA 11, Madden NFL 11 and Recklesss Racing HD are all included in the sale of iPhone and iPad games...

KillBackground: Kill All Running Apps from Your Multitasking Bar

Although Apple took a couple of years to implement system-wide multitasking in iOS, it seems to do the trick. It's easy to access the multitasking bar from any application, and for the most part, apps running in the background don't slow you up.

Note that I said for the most part. It seems like once you have 10 or more apps running, your iPhone starts to feel a bit sluggish. And to close them all one by one can be a tedious task. So why not download a jailbreak utility that'll do it for you in one step?

The U.S. Divided by Mobile OS of Choice [Infographic]

I've always said that the Android vs. iOS debate could spark another civil war here in the states. It seems like arguments for and against the industry's 2 hottest platforms can get heated in a hurry.

With that in mind, here's an interesting infographic displaying the results of mobile ad firm Jumptap's ad-tracking data. It shows the U.S. with states color-coded according to which mobile OS dominates the region. Hit the jump to find out what OS your state prefers.

Get Real-Time Data Usage Tracking on Your iPhone With DataMan Pro [Review and Giveaway] [Winners Announced]

Keeping track of your data consumption is becoming an increasingly important habit for smartphone users. Carriers have started enforcing tiered data plans, and data consumption is becoming more expensive for those that use their devices heavily.

AT&T recently announced that it would begin throttling unlimited data customers in October, so everyone will need to be monitoring their data consumption soon. On the iPhone, there's an excellent app for real-time data tracking called DataMan Pro...

iPad 2 No Longer Must-Have Gadget, Ousted by BlackBerry PlayBook? (Yeah Right)

In what can only be described as a bold claim, and possibly a bit of link bait, voucher site iLoveCashback.com has claimed that Apple's wunder-tablet, the iPad 2, is no longer the must-have gadget.

The new champion? RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook. It's ok, we'll wait for you to pick yourself back up off the floor.

Up? Ok, here's how they come to that rather amazing conclusion...
