iPhone App Review: Zombie Attack! Second Wave XL

Zombie Attack! Second Wave XL was created by IUGO Mobile Entertainment. They developed some decent games such as a physics puzzler called Implode! XL and a simple little survival game called Cliffed XL.

Their quality and know-how for games is not too shabby, so I expected the same from Zombie Attack! Bridge Defense XL. To save myself from agony of such a long name, I will now refer to it as simply, ZA.

ZA is a free roaming Tower Defense game in which you must defend against hordes of Zombies. If anybody has ever played the Xbox360 game called Left 4 Dead (which I loved!), you could consider it as the Tower Defense iPhone Version of that game, and I say that loosely...

Angry Birds iPhone Cases Now Available Online and in Apple Stores

It's no secret that we here at iDB love Angry Birds. One of the most universally recognized games in the App Store, Angry Birds has made quite the name for itself with press and merchandise. You can already get your very own Angry Birds plush toy, and now you can have an Angry Birds iPhone case.

About a month ago, we reported on the rumor that Angry Birds iPhone cases were only in development for a UK carrier. This does not seem to be the case, as official Angry Birds cases have been made available for purchase by Gear4 in partnership with the makers of Angry Birds...

Angry Birds Sequel in the Works?

If you haven't noticed, we here at iDB are obsessed with Angry Birds. So of course we're thrilled to hear there's an Angry Birds sequel in the works!

But as any good salesman (and Rovio CEO Peter Vesterbacka) will say: that's not all! Pocket-Lint reports that Vesterbacka was in attendance at the Virtual Goods Summit in London and spilled some details about what to expect. Here's the rundown:

Watch This: Awesome Trailer for Infinity Blade

I'm not a gamer so I'm hardly ever impressed by any video game. But wow, this trailer for Infinity Blade is in its own category and definitely stands out from what I've ever seen on the iPhone.

There is no indication about when Infinity Trailer will be released or how much it will cost, but this non-gamer can't wait to get his hands on it. Check out the video below to see the full trailer...

Capcom Arcade Games on the iPhone Go Freemium

The video game titan Capcom recently released an official iPhone app called "Capcom Arcade." The arcade-styled app lets you play the original versions of some of Capcom's classic games. Street Fighter, Ghouls 'N Ghosts, 1942, and Commando are all available to be played in their entirety on iOS.

"Wow. That's a lot of awesome gameplay in one app. I bet that's expensive." That's what I thought too when I first heard that Capcom was releasing an app with bundled games. The interesting thing is that Capcom Arcade is not an expensive app at all, in fact, it's free...

Laser Tag, It’s Coming to the iPhone

Apple has filed another interesting patent detailing some extremely interesting multi-player gaming possibilities. Patently Apple has referred to the patent as an "Interactive Laser Gaming Application and/or Framework." Essentially, the new framework would allow iPhones to recreate what amounts to a game of laser tag.

Most people are familiar with laser tag, a game in which players wear light-sensitive vests that register a "hit" when shot by an infrared laser from another player's gun. This new Apple patent describes a similar environment, in which the iPhone would act as the vest and gun...

Upgrade Your Air Hockey App Experience with Table Connect for iPhone

If you have ever tried to play a two-player multi-touch game on your iPhone, then you know how tricky it can be. While it's still fun, and debateably a better experience than the dollar-eating barroom games, you will soon have the opportunity to completely upgrade your multiplayer iPhone game experience.

Enter the coolest iPhone peripheral to date: Table.Connect for iPhone. While still in development, this brilliant idea proposes a beautifully designed table that connects directly to the iPhone via the dock connector. The mockups boast a 58" capacitive multitouch surface, sculpture and design to match the appearance of an iPhone, a power button, a Home button, and a built-in AC power supply...

App Review + Giveaway: Protector – The Planes [Sponsored]

Protector: The Planes is the fifth incarnation of the game in the series. The series first showed its face face in 2008 with Protector. Since its first release the PC version has been played over 50 million times on the PC and Protector 4 is ranked in the top 25 best games at Kongregate (over 30,000 flash games). So being the 5th down the line, but first on the iPhone, iPod and iPad (iOS 3.1.3 or later) it's already got an excellent track record.

What is it?

For those of you who've never heard of the series, it's a medieval and fantasy

based tower defense game with great emphasis on upgrades (outside of the level) and strategic placement of the units. In short, it's a medieval/fantasy RPG style tower defense game. I've got to tell you, this thing's huge. With 32 maps, 40 enemy types and 20 hours of game play, hope you have some sick days left from work, this game is gonna take a while to finish.

Angry Birds Halloween Edition Arrives, Pumpkins Run For Their Lives

Who doesn't enjoy smashing pumpkins? I'm not talking about that alt-rock band from the 90s, no, this is more Angry Birds fun! That's right, Angry Birds Halloween edition is here, boasting 45 new levels of pig-squashing, pumpkin-smashing fun. It's .99 cents in the app store, and exclusive to iOS devices. So you know we're special.

I can't help but wonder now... will the holiday season bring us the chance to smash Santas into smithereens?

App Review – iBlockHead

iBlockhead is easy to learn and even easier to master word puzzle game you can play against the computer or friend (either using the same device or via Bluetooth).

The name doesn't give away much what it's about but I'll so my best to explain. The game consists of a 5 by 5 spaced board with a 5 letter word, or series of letters running horizontally through the middle. Your task is to select letters in sequence to spell out a word (much like Boggle)...

App Review: Trainyard

Trainyard is a puzzle game created by Matt Rix. One might easily look over Trainyard as another useless game for the iDevices because it doesn’t really feature cute characters and fun animation. With all the apps that are being developed these days, if the screenshot doesn’t look good I usually pass.

But digging a little deeper (albeit with the help of some great iTunes App Store Rankings and thousands of five star reviews!), players will be surprised at the level of depth this puzzle game provides...
