Guy impersonates Apple Store employee, tells shoppers to go Android

A new prank is making rounds on the web as comedian and YouTuber Tyler Fischer impersonates an Apple Store employee at four different locations in New York City, telling unsuspecting customers to switch to Android because the iPhone is too pricey.

He can be also seen convincing customers that new iPhones are coming tomorrow and that the iPad has "400 megapixels" - megapixels, not megabytes - of RAM and "300 Skype units"...

Everything is a Remix: the iPhone edition

The Everything is a Remix video series by New York-based filmmaker Kirby Ferguson plays on the remix culture and its key mantra that everything around us is a remix of previously made stuff and that all original material builds off of and remixes previously existing material.

The four-part video series and the companion website covers songs that remain the same, explores the remix techniques involved in producing films, details how innovations truly happen and criticizes the laws that fail to recognize the derivative nature of creativity.

The fifth one (not part of the series, it's a standalone video) is about the iPhone. Go ahead and hit the More link to watch it now, you know you want to...

If Siri drove a car…

Forget Apple's iOS in the Car initiative, or Siri Eyes Free, or even big name car makers rolling out support for iOS mirroring and other hands-free features that tap Apple's iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices - here comes the ultimate Siri-driven feature (yeah, pun intended).

Introducing Steeri, the world's first driverless car app.

Put together by the Smart Department sketch comedy group, the video humorously depicts what Siri-powered driving might be like. The video is right after the jump so have a look and join us in comments...

KitKat pokes fun of Apple’s design prowess

You've likely learned by now about this morning's surprise Google announcement, clearly conceived as a novel way of busting up Apple's news and diverting attention from the brightening of your day.

I'm talking about the upcoming Android version 4.4, code-named KitKat after the famous chocolate-covered wafer biscuit which has apparently "been a favorite candy" on the Android team.

The though process behind the delicious partnership has now unravelled itself in a cringeworthy KitKat clip.

Not only does it spoof Apple's elaborate product videos, it does so by ridiculing the way Jony Ive and his industrial design team go about agonizing over the minutiae. Wait, a confectionery maker is parodying Apple's presentation mojo? What has this world come to?

Joy of Tech has hilarious ideas for new iPhones

Joy of Tech has weighed in on the iPhone 5S/5C memes. As per usual with their illustrations, the comic treads the fine line between poking fun and being downright hilarious. My favorite is their take on the rumored iPhone 5S in gold/champagne color: make it so the gold peels off revealing a layer of chocolate.

Oh, and the box should include the iGoose, a golden case that lays a golden iPhone and lets you recharge it by "stuffing the phone back up the goose's butt".

I'd hate spoil the fun for you prospective buyers so jump past the fold for the full table...

Jon Stewart on Apple’s Senate probe

Earlier this week, Apple's CEO Tim Cook came to Washington and escaped unscathed. The focus of media coverage has now seemingly moved away from Apple to the greater tactics some of the well-known corporations use to funnel their money using the world's tax havens - and perfectly legally, too.

But the hot topic isn't going away as the nearly bankrupt government seeks ways to tax hundreds of billions of dollars kept overseas. And per usual, the American political satirist and the Daily Show host Jon Stewart has jumped on the opportunity to exploit the controversy.

I don't want to spoil the fun for you, but he's asserting U.S. senators are Apple fanboys. The clip is right after the break...

How Samsung’s S Voice responds to questions about iPhone, Siri and Apple

Apple's Siri isn't just known for her witty responses, but also for a few Easter eggs Apple intentionally included in the app. One of the more famous is Siri's response to the marriage question. When asked "will you marry me?", Siri responds that "my End User License Agreement does not cover marriage.”

Nokia even accused Apple of recalibrating Siri to name iPhone the best phone rather than its own Lumia 900 handset. And, a law student took an issue with sponsored Siri responses to questions like “what’s the best smartphone/tablet ever?”

Looks like Samsung's own voice-activated digital assistant, dubbed S Voice, could find itself under similar criticism as bloggers discover some interesting Easter eggs in the software. One of the funnier S Voice responses unsurprisingly covers topics such as Apple's iPhone and Siri...

Caption contest: Jony Ive at Silicon Valley’s all-star pizza dinner

This photo is gold. Twelve of the most important people in Silicon Valley gathered for a dinner tonight, hosted by Nextdoor CEO and longtime Silicon Valley entrepreneur Nirav Tolia.

In attendance was Apple's design guru Jonathan Ive alongside a few other Silicon Valley celebrities.

Most notably, these include Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, Google X director Mike Cassidy, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo and CEOs of Yelp, Dropbox ("you're just a feature") and Path. Ive is just behind Yahoo's Marissa on the right.

Such a rare photo-op, and with an informal Jony Ive as a bonus? Priceless. At any rate, it's nice to see the world's most acclaimed industrial designer hanging out with Silicon Valley's most influential entrepreneurs, even if he doesn't look like he's having much fun. Perhaps you could write your own caption?

Why your iPhone should always be locked

Los Angeles-based stand-up comic, actor and writer Chris D'Elia is funny as hell and he sat down with Conan O'Brien to talk pranks involving reaching someone's unlocked iPhone and tweeting out something very embarrassing, probably involving your parents. Your video is right past the fold...
