Remember when Skype finally enabled video calling for the iPhone late last year? The iPhone 4 debuted with FaceTime in the summer and it was nearly 6 months before we saw Skype add video calling to its iOS application.

Fast forward to March of this year, and Apple launched the iPad 2 with a front facing camera and FaceTime support. Since then, everyone has wondered if Skype would port its video calling application to the popular tablet.

In case you were wondering if folks were done uncovering new features in iOS 5, think again. Out of the 200 new features Apple has added to iOS, I believe we are on like #70 or so.

The latest find comes from iDevice hackers @Chronic and @Sonny Dickson, who have managed to gain access to internal settings in iOS 5. Apparently the new iOS will not only offer FaceTime over 3G, but high quality YouTube playback as well...

Teladoc Looking to Make Virtual Doctor Visits a Reality with FaceTime

Healthcare company Teladoc has been in the doctor-visits-over-webcam industry for the last 8 years. In that time, the group has facilitated somewhere in the range of 80,000 patient/doctor visits by webcam or telephone.

Now it seems like the group is looking to release new iPhone and iPad apps that will allow patients to visit the doctors office, by simply making a FaceTime call. But can a doctor effectively diagnose a patient over the web?

Fring for iPhone Updated with Group Video Calling

Earlier this month, we told you that the popular video chat client, fring, was adding four-way video conferencing to its iPhone app. This new feature would allow cross-platform video conferencing with up to four different calls at once.

Fring has been beta testing this groundbreaking feature for awhile, and the update has now been officially added to the iPhone app in the App Store. This is the first time that you've been able to do group video calling on the iPhone.

iOS 4.3.2 Scheduled to Drop in the Next Week

iOS 4.3.1 has been out for less than a month, and Apple is already planning on releasing 4.3.2 in the coming week. According to BGR, iOS 4.3.2 will address minor bugs and several issues concerning the iPad.

The folks at BGR have already gotten their hands on 4.3.2, and they claim that Apple will push the update for all iDevices in the next seven days...

The fring app offered video chat on the iPhone long before Facetime, and it's exciting to see such an innovative team bringing group video chat to the mobile space.

FaceTime Bug Shows Random Pictures, Raises Privacy Concerns

A topic over at Apple's Discussion Forums has a few users reporting an unusual glitch with the FaceTime app on their iPhone 4 handsets. iPhone 4 users are reporting that when using FaceTime, the screen shows a random picture frozen on the screen.

It seems several iPhone 4 owners are experiencing this FaceTime glitch, which is increasing privacy concerns among the community. According to several users, the camera seems to be keeping random images that have not been taken before and don’t seem to originate from past FaceTime calls.
