WhatsApp testing ZIP chat export feature, Facebook to gain ‘post via WhatsApp’ button

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is about to integrate more tightly with the social networking firm's mobile client, as discovered Monday by German blog Macerkopf.de.

Facebook is testing the forthcoming version 2.12.17.689 update to WhatsApp for iOS which will permit users to export their chat archive as a ZIP file.

Currently, WhatsApp lets you back up and restore chat history via iCloud, so the addition of ZIP chat exporting will make it easier for users to download their instant messages to a computer.

In addition, Facebook is also testing a new WhatsApp integration in its mobile application for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Public beta testers: iOS 9.3 beta 2 and OS X 10.11.4 now available

Two days after seeding OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan beta 2 and iOS 9.3 beta 2 to members of the Apple Developer Program, public beta testers who are signed on the Apple Beta Software Program can now freely deploy these new beta builds on their Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.

iOS 9.3 beta 2 is available as an over-the-air update in Settings → General → Software Update on enrolled devices. OS X 10.11.4 beta 2 can be downloaded through the Mac App Store's Purchased tab for those who are enrolled in Apple's beta testing program.

How to update the Apple TV to the tvOS beta without losing apps, settings, or data

If you're a developer, there are two ways to update to the latest tvOS beta on the Apple TV. Both methods require a USB-C cable, so be sure to have one of those at your disposal.

The first method, and perhaps the way the general public is more familiar with, requires downloading the full tvOS beta software and restoring using iTunes. This method works, but it also means that everything that's on the Apple TV, from settings to apps, will be wiped. You're essentially setting the Apple TV back to factory defaults when using iTunes to update to the tvOS beta.

The more sensible approach is to use Apple Configurator 2, a Mac App Store app that can be used together with Configuration Profiles, to update to the latest tvOS beta.

The advantage of using the Configuration Profiles method is that all of your data, apps, and settings stay put. That way, you can enjoy all of the latest features of the tvOS beta, without having to go through the tedious initial setup process.

A new tvOS 9.2 beta has landed in the hands of Apple TV developers today. This update comes at the same time as new iOS, watch OS, and OS X betas are released.

tvOS 9.2 beta 2 is a follow up release to tvOS 9.2 beta 1. That update brought a new Podcasts app, redesigned App Switcher, Bluetooth keyboard support, and folders to the Apple TV interface. This latest update brings iCloud Photo Library support, Live Photos support, and more...

Apple seeds watchOS 2.2 beta 2 to developers

A new watchOS 2.2 beta just appeared for developers. watchOS 2.2 beta 2 is the follow up to the original 2.2 beta that launched two weeks ago to the day.

Today's releases follow developer seeds of iOS 9.3 and OS X 10.11.4 on Monday. While 9.3 includes a number of major additions, the 10.11.4 features just a handful of changes, such as support for Live Photos in Messages and passwords in Notes.

Apple seeds iOS 9.3 beta 1.1 to developers

Apple has seeded an updated version of iOS 9.3 beta 1 to developers. The new update, which appears as iOS 9.3 beta 1.1 in the OTA Software Update on iOS, contains bug fixes and improvements. All developers are recommended to update to this latest version of the iOS 9.3 beta.

If you've yet to install the beta, you'll find the updated version available on Apple's developer member center. The updated version, seeded today, comes with a build number of 13E5181f. You can also take advantage of the new configuration profile feature to get directly on the developer seed path without needing iTunes.

Apple releases iOS 9.3 for public beta testers

A few days after seeding iOS 9.3 beta 1 to developers, Apple has released iOS 9.3 Public Beta 1 to beta testers as a part of its public beta program. Why pair more than one Apple Watch to a single iPhone? Here’s why…

I've seen so many comments questioning the reason behind Apple allowing more than one Apple Watch to be paired with a single iPhone. Some people think it's silly to have more than one Apple Watch, while others genuinely seem to be confused by the decision.
