Is an iPhone 4 Unlock For Basebands 3.10.01 and 2.10.04 Right on the Horizon?

If you've been using an iPhone 4 on basebands 3.10.01 or 2.10.04, your inability to unlock has undoubtedly been an issue of great concern.

Time and time again, we get our hopes up, only to come away disappointed.

Let's give Apple credit, they've done a decent job with keeping these basebands locked down for a significant amount of time, but the gates could be breached in the very near future...

Will a Qualcomm Baseband Grace the Innards of the iPhone 5?

More potential iPhone 5 goodies to start your weekend off right. Well known Italian hacker, Zibri, has documented his findings from a recent decompile of the latest version of iTunes, uncovering some interesting tidbits.

iPhone 4 Unlock Available in A Month?

Last month the Dev Team released an update to their UltraSn0w tool which allowed to unlock the iPhone 3G and 3GS loaded with the latest iOS 4.2.1. The iPhone 4 was left out of the equation and unless you're still on baseband 01.59.00, you can't unlock this device yet.

Today, some good news was uncovered about an unlock for the iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.1 baseband 02.10.04 in a tweet sent out by Sherif Hashim. The iPhone hacker confirmed that an unlock for 02.10.04 will be available, most likely before January 16th...

Dev Team Working on Baseband Downgrade for Easier iPhone Unlock

Those of you who recently unlocked their iPhones running iOS 4.2.1 or 4.1 know that the process wasn't as straightforward as we expected. The latest UltraSn0w unlock works for the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS with baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, or 05.13.04. It also works with iPhone 4 with baseband 01.59.00. But if you're iPhone is on a different baseband, you have to upgrade to 06.15.00, either using RedSn0w or PwnageTool.

This new unlock doesn't come without its share of issues, with battery drain for some of us, and/or GPS issues for others. Fortunately, it seems the Dev Team is working on a baseband downgrade method, which would make the unlock process easier, and safer...

Warning: Updating your iPhone Baseband to 06.15.00 May Cause GPS Issues

It's getting increasingly harder and risky to unlock the iPhone. Proof is with the recent release of the UltraSn0w unlock for iOS 4.2.1, 4.1, and 4.0.2, which require you to update your iPhone baseband to 06.15.00 in order to be able to unlock.

As reported by many unlockers and officially confirmed by the Dev Team, there is an issue with baseband 06.15.00 which might cause your GPS to not function properly, if at all. While some users are able to get their iPhone GPS to work, others are experiencing problems...

This method works for both Windows and Mac. It is pretty simple but it does require you to read the steps carefully. As usual when hacking your iPhone, you are proceeding at your own risks. This being said, this is how to upgrade to iOS 4.1 without upgrading the baseband...

Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS iOS 4.1 Won’t Be Released Until November

GreenPois0n is going to be released on Sunday. It will jailbreak the iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G. It won't however jailbreak the iPhone 3GS. So what happens to those of you who have an iPhone 3GS?

Well, yesterday we confirmed that Comex is working on a jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS but if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath too much on that as MuscleNerd made it clear that such a jailbreak wouldn't be released until November, when iOS 4.2 is released...

And now for the good news...

iPhone 5 To Run on Both 3G and LTE

Since I started following the iPhone daily buzz I am constantly reminded by how passionate and devout the community covering the device can be. So devout that the moment someone predicts the future of an unreleased iPhone, the rest of the bloggers rush to validate the claim.

CNET reports that an analyst from Rodman and Renshaw claims that Apple's next generation phone will offer up support for both 3G technology and the futuristic LTE (Long Term Evolution) platform which is being touted as "4G" technology. Ashok Kumar said the following about the switch:
