Best Frienemies Verizon and AT&T Featured in iPhone 4 Commercial

Fierce rivals AT&T and Verizon were featured in a commercial together to prove the point that two is better than one. If one didn't know the backstory, it would almost appear that the two rival networks were cool with each other.

Only a company like Apple could pull something like this off. Can you imagine any other phone warranting a commercial that includes a cameo from two competing networks like AT&T and Verizon? I don't think so.

New Universal iPhone Bumper Released, But Will the Verizon iPhone Really Need It?

All signs are pointing to the fact that the iPhone 4's antenna issues have been resolved by means of the subtle changes made to Verizon's version of the iPhone 4.

Even still, that's not preventing Apple from seeking to cash in on bumper sales, as previous bumpers have been phased out in favor of new universal bumpers that fit both AT&T's and Verizon's iPhone.

Check out the video inside for the side-by-side bumper comparison...

Current Verizon Customers Should Be Eligible for a $200 Credit Towards the iPhone 4

Good news for current Verizon customers: the latest U.S. iPhone carrier has posted its FAQ on the iPhone 4, and it turns out that a $200 credit will be given towards an iPhone upgrade. However, not everyone will qualify for this credit.

If you purchased a new smartphone from Verizon Wireless between November 26, 2010 and January 10, 2011, you should be eligible for a $200 credit towards an iPhone 4 upgrade. This credit should be available as long as your purchase the iPhone on Verizon before February 28.

Verizon's FAQ has some interesting answers for current (and potential) customers who might want to use their available upgrade on the iPhone 4...

AT&T is Making Changes to Texting Plans in Preparation for the Verizon iPhone

It looks like AT&T is planning a preemptive strike in the upcoming Verizon iPhone battle, with the first big change being new text messaging plans. AT&T says their intent is to simplify and streamline their messaging plans, with the changes due to go into effect on January 23, 2011.

Check inside for the details on the new plans, and what this means for AT&T customers...

AT&T Sends Out SMS Message Urging Users to Update to iOS 4.2, Unlockers Beware

If you're rocking an unlocked phone, it would behoove you to stick to the tried and true suggestions from the Dev Team to stay away from official updates. AT&T has recently started sending out mass text messages urging customers to update to iOS 4.2.

Why would they do this? Since AT&T is already on the cusp of losing quite a few users to Verizon's iPhone once it is released, the company is in a frenzy trying to convince customers to stick with them...

T-Mobile Ad Takes a Jab at Verizon and AT&T iPhones

We all knew it was bound to happen, but I don’t think we were expecting it this early. T-Mobile’s latest 4G campaign, featuring an Apple vs Mac style, takes a jab at both AT&T and Verizon.

Previously, T-Mobile aired several advertisements outlining the disadvantages of the iPhone on the AT&T network, including the inability to video chat over WiFi on the AT&T iPhone whereas the T-Mobile myTouch 4G can make calls anywhere.

The latest advertisement shows that there’s no fun in having a great handset running on a slow network, referencing AT&T’s unreliable 3G network and Verizon slow CDMA network, when T-Mobile’s network provides 4G speeds...

A Closer Look at The Verizon iPhone’s ‘Personal Hotspot’

Yesterday, the Verizon iPhone was announced. Not much is different; there is a new CDMA antenna and mobile hotspot feature coined as "Personal Hotspot." This new (currently) Verizon-specific iPhone feature mimics popular jailbreak utilities like MyWi.

Personal Hotspot will be a new, pre-installed software feature for the Verizon brand of iOS. This mobile hotspot feature has been available on most Android phones for quite some time. Some more details have surfaced about Personal Hotspot...

New Verizon iPhone Could Significantly Alter Apple’s Release Strategy

One of the things that concerns me about the release of the Verizon iPhone 4, is how this anomaly in the iPhone release schedule will change Apple's strategy. Will it change it at all? Will it be business as usual come June 2011? The main group of people that are potentially impacted from this change are current iPhone owners, AT&T customers.

Are we still likely to see the next iteration of the iPhone released this summer, or does this bring significant change to what we've all grown accustomed to over the years?

AT&T Users Have No Reason to Envy Verizon’s iPhone

After many years, months, and days of hardcore speculation, the details about America's worst kept secret are at last out of the bag. Underwhelming as it was, today's Verizon press event functioned like more of a low key gathering when compared to the Steve Jobs driven spectacles that Apple puts on.

The differences between the two companies press unveilings aptly foreshadowed how underwhelmed I came away feeling when the event was all said and done.

Granted, I understand that this wasn't your typical Apple announcement and Verizon never perpetuated that it was. Still, I can't help but feel like I got a small fry when I specifically asked for a large...

What a Verizon iPhone Means for AT&T

I've seen the same question being asked over and over again on Twitter and in the comments here, so I figured it'd be a good idea to clarify things up a little bit. Many of you are confused about Verizon getting the iPhone. Does that mean AT&T will lose the iPhone? Absolutely not.

AT&T will not lose the iPhone. Come June, Apple will unveil a new iPhone and this iPhone will be available on both AT&T and Verizon. Up until today, AT&T had the exclusivity of the iPhone, meaning they were the only carrier allowed to sell it in the US. Today, this exclusivity came to an end and Apple decided to add an additional carrier in the US...

How to Check Your Verizon iPhone Eligibility

The Verizon iPhone has been announced, and if you're one of the millions that is probably planning on buying one, you can now check your contract eligibility. Among other things, the Verizon iPhone has a new antenna. This should make call reliability much better with the iPhone on Verizon's network.

If you are a current Verizon wireless customer, Apple has posted a page where you can check your contract eligibility for an upgrade. Verizon also has an eligibility page for customers to check their contracts as well...

The Verizon iPhone Has a Different Antenna

You might remember that the iPhone 4 was hit by a pretty big controversy about its antenna design shortly after it was released. Known as the antennagate, this issue could easily be replicated simply by wrapping your hand around the bottom of the phone, which is how 90% of people actually hold their phones.

It seems that Apple went back to the drawing board and came up with a slightly different antenna design for the Verizon iPhone. If you look at the 2 images below, you will see that the tiny black breaks between the different parts of the antenna are at different spots...
