New aerial photo reveals underground tunnels at iSpaceship site

Ron Cervi, news and traffic reporter for KCBS, is no stranger to flying over Apple's massive site where the company's 2.8 million square foot ring-shaped iSpaceship facility is being built. Previously, the reported snapped up several aerial photos that have documented progress at the site.

Specifically, his photos have revealed the demolition process and construction as the upcoming corporate campus started to take shape, with a massive ground imprint clearly visible in the aerial shots.

Facebook releases Mentions, new iPhone app you probably can’t use

The social networking behemoth, Facebook, today launched a brand new iPhone application: Mentions.

Although you can download it - the app is currently rolling out to the U.S. App Store as we speak - chances are you probably won't be able to use it.

That is, unless you're a verified public figure such as an actor, athlete, musician or other influencer, in which case Mentions is right for you.

In a nutshell, Mentions allows celebrities to see what fans are saying, engage in conversations with people and influencers who are talking about them, tell their own story by sharing updates, photos and videos - and even host live Q&As directly from their iPhone...

As of today, Amazon’s mobile ad network supports iOS devices

Amazon today said that its mobile ad network is now available on iOS. Makers of iPhone and iPad apps can now take advantage of Amazon's Mobile Ads API to make money by inject into their apps banner and interstitial ads from premium advertisers participating in the Amazon Mobile Ad Network.

Moreover, the online retailer will add support for its own Fire smartphone beginning July 25, when it's scheduled to launch...

Apple ID 2-step verification live in 48 new markets

It appears that Apple has rolled out its two-factor authentication feature for Apple ID accounts in an additional 48 markets, bringing the total number of countries which support this security-minded feature to a cool 59.

Two-factor authentication bolsters up your security when logging in to your Apple ID account on the web by combining something you know - your Apple ID username and password or a Recovery Key - with something you own - a four-digit authorization code sent to your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad device...

HBO launches Game of Thrones Ascent on iPhone

HBO, the premium cable and satellite television network owned by Time Warner (which itself could get acquired by Rupert Murdoch-owned 21st Century Fox) today has enabled iPhone owners to enjoy the worlds from the successful Game of Thrones book and television series.

Having originally launched on the iPad in time for Season 4 debut in late-March, developer Disruptor Beam once again teamed up with Kongregate, having bumped the game to version 2.0 and adding native support for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Google Analytics app with Real Time reports now available for iPhone

Google is definitely on a roll these days when it comes to its dedication to the Apple platform. One of the most prolific App Store publishers, the Internet giant in the past seven days alone has released or updated half a dozen apps for the iPhone and iPad.

Just a few examples: the company launched a new YouTube Creator Studio app for the iPhone, released another app to manage AdWords Express accounts for small businesses, updated Google Maps with Gmail appointments and mapped search results, posted the popular augmented reality game Ingress, updated Chrome for iOS with Cast support, refreshed Google Wallet with support for gift cards, free debit card transfers and more and started flagging Flash content in search results on iOS and Android.

And today, Google released a brand new Analytics for iPhone app...

Claimed photo shows alleged 15 percent stronger iPhone 6 battery

There has been some commotion lately as to whether or not Apple's iPhone 6 will have a longer battery life due to a larger enclosure potentially housing a stronger battery pack.

A new claimed photo surfaced Thursday purportedly depicting an iPhone 6 battery showing an increased capacity of 1,810mAh.

To put it in context, both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c have a a 1,570mAh battery so this alleged component could provide a sixteen percent boost in battery capacity...

Apple launches iTunes Pass in the US and other countries

On Tuesday, Apple launched a new service in Japan called 'iTunes Pass.' The service allows customers to purchase iTunes Store credit from an Apple retail store using Passbook, eliminating the need for physical gift cards and redemption codes.

At the time of launch, it was unclear if Apple intended to roll out iTunes Pass to other countries, or if it was merely just testing the waters for a bigger project. After 24 hours, that question was answered tonight when the service popped up in the US...

Airbnb for iPhone receives thorough makeover, part of a controversial rebranding

Airbnb, an online service for people to rent out lodging, has rolled out a major update to its iPhone application earlier today.

The software has been redesigned from the ground up for a much cleaner appearance so you'll immediately notice richer colors and more vibrant photography "inspired by Airbnb experiences all around the world.

The app now uses Airbnb's controversial new logo (more on that later) and the web interface has been overhauled, too, as part of the company's larger rebranding effort. The refreshed Airbnb 4.0 is now live in the App Store...

Microsoft starts rolling out increased OneDrive storage today

A little over three weeks ago, Microsoft announced a forthcoming increase to OneDrive storage tiers, promising to more than double free 7GB accounts to as much as fifteen gigabytes of free cloud storage.

The Redmond company additionally promised a brand new 1TB tier for the consumer Office 365 accounts and up to seventy percent cheaper monthly subscriptions. Today, Microsoft has delivered on that promise.

Apple agrees to pay $450 million to settle e-book price fixing case

Reuters is reporting today that Apple has agreed to pay $450 million to settle its long-standing e-book price fixing federal court case with class action lawyers and state district attorneys.

As a reminder, the government alleged that Apple conspired along with five major U.S. publishers to fix e-book prices to the detriment of consumers, denying them the choice of price, while stifling competition.

$400 million of the $450 million will cover damage to consumers, with the remaining $50 million earmarked for recovery if liability must be retried...
