You might be able to wear your Apple Watch in the shower after all

Apple has never said that its Watch would be safe to use in the shower or while swimming, but now CEO Tim Cook has ostensibly confirmed that the device can in fact be worn while taking a shower.

French blog iGen.fr reported that Tim Cook said speaking to employees at an Apple Store in Berlin today that he wears his Apple Watch everywhere, “even in the shower.”

Poll: how much should Apple Watch Edition cost?

Aside from the starting price of $349 for the Sport model, the Cupertino firm has yet to reveal pricing of its higher-end Watch and Edition models.

There are two schools of thought here. One says that Apple Watch Edition should sell for $10,000 a pop or more, not just due to its casing being made form 18-karat gold but because Apple will pitch it as a piece of fashionable jewelry rather than a technology product.

The opposite argument says the Edition model should sell for far less as it's not an actual mechanical precision watch from Swiss watchmakers, so it would be crazy to price it as one.

Which camp do you belong to and how much should the Apple Watch Edition realistically cost, do you think? Cast your vote after the jump and meet us in comments.

ETA Watch app will put travel times and driving directions on your wrist

Coming as a free upgrade for all existing owners of the $0.99 ETA app for the iPhone and iPad, Melbourne based developer Eastwood shared last week a preview of what ETA's Watch counterpart will look like.

For those unfamiliar with ETA, it's a GPS-based personal driving assistant which calculates travel times and driving directions to all your favorite destinations.

The ETA app for the Apple Watch will provide the same basic functionality as the iOS edition, only optimized for the smaller screen, allowing Watch owners to get travel times and driving directions just by raising their wrist.

Apple Watch Edition: tech vs luxury

People will get their panties in a bunch when Apple announces the Watch Edition costs several thousand dollars, but that's mostly because these people don't understand what Apple is doing.

This quote from John Gruber's post about Apple Watch pricing hits the nail on the head:

Apple Watch makes its US magazine cover debut ahead of April launch

In line with Apple's promise of a functional yet fashionable device, its forthcoming Watch has already graced the cover of Vogue China. And now, as reported by AppleInsider, the wrist-worn gizmo has just made its magazine cover debut over in the United States.

Featured in the March issue of ‘Self’ magazine, the Apple Watch Sport and its stock Activity app can be seen prominently shown on the wrist of supermodel and Victoria's Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel as Apple appears to have extended device advertising to fitness enthusiasts in a need of a comprehensive activity tracking accessory.

Apple may be building a dedicated Watch booth at Parisian Galeries Lafayette

French website Mac4Ever is alleging, via MacRumors, that Apple may be building a small booth for its Watch at Galeries Lafayette, a high-end department store in Paris. Located on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, the Watch display should be located on the department store's first floor.

Furthermore, it might expand to other stores along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, as claimed by French media outlets.

Apple meets with Mexican regulators ahead of Watch launch

Five executives from Apple met last Wednesday with Mexico’s Federal Telecommunications Institute President Gabriel Contreras and other commissioners to “discuss advances in health-care devices”, according to an agenda published on the regulator’s website relayed yesterday by Bloomberg.

Taiwan-based Quanta Computer Inc is the main assembler of the wrist-worn device. Half of the first-quarter production order is earmarked for the entry-level $349 Apple Watch Sport model, or about three million units.

WSJ: Apple scrapped many advanced health features for Apple Watch

The Wall Street Journal is out with a report on Monday detailing that Apple had originally intended the Apple Watch to be a lot more.

The publication's sources state that executives at the Cupertino-based company had envisioned a full-fledged health monitor, but many plans were scrapped after reliability and complexity came into play, perhaps paving way for features that could be found in a second-generation of the Watch due out in April.

New Watch apps previewed: MoneyWiz and MileWiz

Ahead of its wearable release in April, Apple invited select developers to submit their Watch apps for the inclusion in the App Store. We've already seen previews of Todoist, we know eBay is working on a bidding Watch app and Nimblebit even created a puzzle game for it.

And now, developer SilverWiz has posted a pair of previews of its two productivity apps for the device: the personal finance app MoneyWiz 2 and the automatic mileage tracking software MileWiz.

LG Watch goes luxury ahead of Apple Watch later this spring

LG has launched an upgrade to its LG Watch, taking it to a luxury level, ahead of the release of the Apple Watch in April that will be available in several different styles.

The LG G Watch Urbane features an all-metal build modeled after the LG Watch R. The LG G Watch R has been called one of the better Android Wear watches on the market, receiving rave reviews from many members of the tech press.

Taking it to a luxury level, LG may have just improved the G Watch R expediently.

A study released Wednesday by investment firm J.P. Morgan bodes well for Apple’s inaugural wrist-worn gadget. Although the Apple Watch requires an iPhone and is limited to owners of the iPhone 5 and newer, JP Morgan thinks there will be 400 million potential Apple Watch customers by the end of the March quarter, with five percent of compatible iPhone owners potentially buying it before the end of 2015.
