Apple’s retail sales strategy for Apple Watch revealed

Ahead of next week's Apple Watch event, Apple has begun training its retail employees on how to position the new device to customers. In a new report this afternoon, 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman shares 3 key points from their training including key features, iPhone compatibility and style.

According to selling guidelines provided to Gurman, Apple wants its employees to find out 3 things about their customers when trying to sell the Apple Watch: what do they already know about the device, is their iPhone compatible, and are they looking for a casual or formal watch.

Launch lineup of Watch apps includes Salesforce, Panera Bread, hotel & fitness apps and more

As Apple is prepping to share more information about its upcoming wrist-worn device at the March 9 “Spring Forward” media event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, CEO Tim Cook just dropped a few interesting tidbits about the lineup of launch apps for the Watch.

He told employees of Apple's flagship retail store in Berlin that “a whole ton of announcements are coming shortly about all of the apps coming” for it.

The comment indicates that the upcoming media event will have a strong focus on third-party applications for the device. “Some of the best hotels in the world” will allow Watch owners to use the device to unlock room doors, he told employees, 9to5Mac learned.

Tim Cook: Apple Watch launch not limited to US, Lisa Jackson takes over accessibility efforts

Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a recent earnings call that the Apple Watch will be shipping to customers in April and now we've learned the launch won't be limited to the United States.

Cook, who is touring Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Israel, apparently told managers during his visit to the flagship Apple Store in Berlin that the wrist-worn device will launch in Germany during the month of April, 9to5Mac learned.

Apple Watch lifestyle photoshoots appear in Hong Kong and UK fashion mags

Multi-page editorial coverage of the Apple Watch in the world’s top fashion magazines continues with a new cover appearance and multi-page spread in Hong Kong street fashion and lifestyle magazine East Touch this month, Hype Beast reported Monday.

In addition, the wrist-worn device has appeared on the cover and a two-page spread inside the Big Spring issue of London-based fashion mag Style.

Apple Watch reportedly has Power Reserve mode, displaying only time

The New York Times reports the Apple Watch will feature "Power Reserve" functionality, in order to stretch the wearable's battery longer and make for less frequent charging.

Apple has said the watch battery is estimated to last a full day, requiring a user to charge it at night, similar to a smartphone. The low-power mode will display the time only, the report says, and will be able to do so on even very little battery.

Apple Watch event wallpapers: Spring Forward

Last week, Apple sent media invitations to an event on March 9. It is widely expected the main subject will be the forthcoming Apple Watch, which Tim Cook announced will be available in April 2015. With the invitation reading "Spring Forward," it is much less cryptic than previous invite wording. "Spring forward" is a common phrase to help people remember to set their clocks forward, ending daylight savings time. The key here being the overt reference to a device telling time. Further, March 9 is the day after the end of daylight savings time.

Per usual, iDownloadBlog wants to help everyone celebrate the moment by highlighting event inspired wallpapers. Inside, you will find versions of the invitation for iPhone, iPad, and desktop.

Speculation: Could this be how Apple prices Apple Watch?

A lot of speculation has surrounded Apple Watch pricing ever since the company introduced the wearable in September 2014. The only cost detail Apple provided was that prices would begin at $349 and go up from there.

German blogs have put together some interesting speculation over the past week based on John Gruber's post on Daring Fireball, theorizing the most expensive Apple Watch Edition – 42mm with an 18K Solid Gold link bracelet – could be priced at a hefty $19,999.

Upcoming Pinner for Apple Watch to bring comprehensive bookmark discovery to your wrist

Following Apple’s announcement of the March 9 media event, UK-based developer Sam Oakley, the brains behind the Pinner for Pinboard iOS app, has shared a preview of his upcoming Apple Watch app.

Pinner for the iPhone and iPad is a delightful app for managing your Pinboard in bookmarks. Unlike many other Watch apps that only offer basic functionality of their iOS counterparts, Pinner for Apple Watch has a full-on set of easy to use features to help explore Pinterest bookmarks in compelling new ways.

Tim Cook: Apple Watch will replace car keys, battery will last whole day and other tidbits

While making an unannounced visit to Apple's flagship retail store in London's Covent Garden, CEO Tim Cook dropped a few more hints about the upcoming wrist-worn device, expected to mark Apple's foray into wearables come this April.

As The Telegraph reported, Apple's chief executive said the Watch will replace your car keys, reward exercise, filter messages and more.

Apple to live stream March 9th Apple Watch event

Apple updated its website this morning to announce that it will be providing a live video stream of its upcoming March 9th event. On a new Live page at Apple.com, the company has posted the 'Spring Forward' image it's been sending out to media outlets, inviting users to join it at 10 am PDT that day for a "special event."

We are expecting Apple to use the stage time to reveal further details about its Apple Watch, which is slated to start shipping April. Despite a huge unveiling last fall, the company has been relatively mum about upper tier pricing, battery life, and various other aspects of the device, indicating it has a lot more to talk about.

Apple sends out media invites for March 9th event

Apple this morning sent out press invitations for a special event, set to take place on Monday, March 9th. The Loop shared the invite (shown above), which invites attendees to 'Spring forward,' and says it will be held in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

There's no official word on what Apple will talk about during the event, but the consensus is the company will reveal further details about the Apple Watch. It's also possible that Tim Cook and Co. could introduce rumored projects such as the 12-inch MacBook or iPad Pro.

Check out cool Apple Watch print and video ad in Vogue’s March issue

Looks like Apple's marketing department has chalked up another win as the widely respected Vogue just gave the Apple Watch serious exposure.

The March issue of the magazine features a multi-spread feature containing actual-size photographs of Apple's wrist-clad device.

As MacRumors noted, the clean ads simply showcase different Watch casings and band designs.

Because the device is depicted in actual size, the magazine's fashion conscious readers can get a feel of how big the Watch is in real life.
