Some Apple Music subscribers experiencing issues with music search feature on iOS

Some Apple Music subscribers are experiencing issues with the music search feature this morning, as first noted by MacRumors. The issue appears to exhibit itself when searching for new music in the Music app on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. At post time, the iCloud status webpage did not indicate there was a problem with Apple Music but Apple is usually slow to report problems with online services on that page.

iTunes Radio now requires Apple Music subscription

Keeping true to its promise, ad-supported iTunes Radio, which launched in 2013, is no longer available for free and now requires an Apple Music subscription, leaving Beats 1 as the lone free-to-stream radio service on iTunes.

Starting today, non-subscribers who attempt to access iTunes Radio on iOS or via iTunes for Mac or Windows are greeted with a “Get on Our Wavelength” prompts, asking them to subscribe to Apple Music in order to continue enjoying Apple's selection of streaming radio stations.

Newsflash: Apple Music is not the failure that naysayers were rooting for it to become. Citing people familiar with the matter, The Financial Times newspaper reported today that Apple Music has passed ten million paying subscribers after just six months in existence.

If true, the service, which launched in more than a hundred countries in June of 2015, now has half as many paying customers as Spotify, which has been in the streaming-music game for years now.

Rumor: high-fidelity Apple Music streaming due in 2016

Citing industry sources who spoke to the publication at the Portable Audio Festival in Tokyo, where some of Apple's products were exhibited, the report states that Apple will offer better-than-CD quality music.

In addition, high-end audio equipment makers are allegedly planning to add audio cables for Lightning to their lineups.

Apple Music launches “Star Wars” radio station

Apple on Wednesday joined the chorus of other tech companies looking to capitalize on the popularity of the new Star Wars movie, by rolling out a dedicated radio station in Apple Music. You can find the new station in the 'Radio' section of the Music app on iOS, or in iTunes.

As you'd expect, Star Wars radio plays through a library of memorable music from past movies. In my short time listening to the station, I heard the popular Main Title/Rebel Blockade Runner, Yoda's Theme, Emperor Arrives, and a slew of sound effects like R2-D2 beeping.
